Some of you may want to re-think your vote for Orr.
Agreed. Orr is cool and all, but he ain't no BGL or Huggy...yet.

It's gotta be Laraque, I like Orr but he still has 0 wins against the big 2. Brash isn't as dominant as Laraque, Boogaard was injured most of the year, & King needs to take on some of the big boys before he can get my vote.

The way I see the "fighter of the year" award is who was most impressive, not necessarily who is the #1 guy in the league right now. Forgetting everything that has happened in the past, and forget all the reputations, do you look at this year alone and say, "Laraque is definitely the top dog, he had the best year."?

I can't say that, that's why I chose Orr. In my opinion, Laraque did just enough to hold his spot at #1, but not much more than that. Too many boring, short fights (although I know it's not always his fault) for me to declare him as the "fighter of the year", couldn't put away Brashear or Ivanans and ended up eating a couple punches in result from that.

Orr was the most active heavyweight this year aside from Cote, and had an amazing win/loss ratio, with a couple fight of the year candidates! That's my kinda "fighter of the year"

Laraque is still my #1 guy overall though.

I didn't want to pick BGL, but how can you not when nobody really defeated him. His number of fights could have been higher, but then again many fear him.

It was a pretty darn good year for BGL. Good to see him step up to the plate and keep opposing players honest for a very young and very talented Penguins team.

Cote? What are you nuts? You would have ranked him as the BEST fighter of the year? He practically has more losses than Brashear or Laraque have fights.

Not really an "Impressive Fighter of the year Award". It's more of what is printed in the bold. Cote was very impressive, but this thread I believe is who was the best of the best this year.

Grudgingly ... I have to go with BGL. Without getting into his style , he was the dominant force again this season . Boogaard wasn't used enough to get the nod IMO.

BGL is the fighter of the year. He did just enough to retain the belt and didn't take one clear loss. He was dominating Brashear and could have finished him off easily if he wasn't such a "gentlemen".

wins as well if u wanna go this way.laraque with brashear might be the strongest fighters but what makes them the best?laraques fights usually dont even last enough to show his skills as he tries to push opponents down.does it make him better than cote?
i dont wanna say laraque shouldnt be winner of this category,i just try to say cote should be nominated at least.im sure he would get couple of votes.

It's really between Laraque and Brashear. It's a toss up between those two.

I would go with Laraque, i think he did really good in majority of his fights, and he even dominated alot of heavyweights in various fights.
