2007-08 Kimble Award: Most Exciting Fighter

Nominees

Daniel Carcillo - for sheer craziness
Riley Cote - for being a warrior who takes on all comers with little defense
Darcy Hordichuk - for being one of the last toe-to-toe guys
Colton Orr - for a combination of opening up and power
Rick Rypien - Josh Gratton minus 30 pounds
Shawn Thornton - consistently entertaining

My Pick

This is a tough one once again. If Rick Rypien played a full season in the NHL he would have my vote. Personally Daniel Carcillo entertains me most. He is just simply crazy. He could be getting beat down by Ivanans, beating up a non-fighter, fighting the refs, or wildly jumping in on other peoples fights during a brawl. How can you not love watching that? I predict Riley Cote will win though, as he had a large selection of great toe-to-toe fights.

Previous Winners

2003-04: Darcy Hordichuk
2005-06: Brian McGrattan
2006-07: Derek Boogaard (stole it from Josh Gratton IMO)

Man if only Cam Janssen played a full season. That guy entertains me the most. But I gave it to Carcillo instead. That kid has balls!

He has balls, no doubt, just not as big as Cote's. Riley's jock strap must be a XXXL.

Carcillo was out of his mind, which is very exciting to watch. He gets my vote.

It's a close one, Carcillo is very exciting but I'll go with the heavy and pick Riley Cote.

Carcillo. The guy plays 10-15 minutes a game. He made the coyote games watchable and his fights are entertaining.

Edit: Read the title wrong. I thougtht most exciting player. My pick: Cote.

As much as i dislike the Flyers, i gotta give it to Cote, he takes on anyone, the kid is fearless and has pretty entertaining fights, he's got some great potential.

My vote is Shawn Thornton.

He had several toe-to-toe bouts this year, and is very exciting. He's pretty small at 6'1'' 215, but he can hang with anyone, and beat them too. Cote is exciting, but not as much as Thornton, IMO, and Cote also loses a lot more. Thornton is the better fighter and does better against the top dogs like Laraque and Brashear, so he's more entertaining to watch, because he always makes his fights close. Sometimes Cote's fights are close, but at other times - like at the beginning of this year - he lost fight after fight.

Cote, he will fight anyone and his all offense style of fighting makes for some entertaining fights.

Tough call though, Hordi, Thornton and Carcillo are all great entertainers.

Riley Cote. No matter the opponent, he openly desires the taste of their knuckles, he's got a jaw of cement and will return them as well. One of thee msot exciting fighters to ever play for the Flyers.

Well it has to be big enough for all us Flyer fans to fit in there.

This is SO close between Carcillo and Cote. I'll have to think a little more about it. Carcillo is definitely the more entertaining player, but if we're strictly looking at from the beginning of their fights until the end then it's close.
