2007-08 Best Player Feud
Nominees
Brad May vs. Krys Barch Incredible series of 4 fights between these guys who just seemed to fight every time they saw each other, in 4 separate games. The fights were rated 4.8, 8.0, 9.0, and 8.1 on HF.com giving them 3 possible fight of the year candidates which is even more amazing. Round 1: Nov 05, 2007 Round 2: Nov 21, 2007 Round 3: Jan 15, 2008 Round 4: Mar 19, 2008 Riley Cote vs. Andre Roy Another four fight rivalry, including a great slugfest and a TKO win for Riley Cote. Cote and the Flyer's scoreboard manager got Andre so enraged that he went into a throat-slitting tantrum that would cost him the rest of the season. Look for this rivalry to continue next year. Round 1: Oct 25, 2007 Round 2: Dec 29, 2007 Round 3: Mar 06, 2008 Round 4: Mar 06, 2008 Scott Parker vs. Eric Godard Scott Parker seemed to be brought in just to face Minnesota and Calgary to neutralize Boogaard and Lapointe. Most of his fun, though, came against Eric Godard in a tough fought three game set in which he went 2-0-1. Godard though gets marks for enforcing against some nasty Parker cheap shots in the team's games. Round 1: Oct 16, 2007 Round 2: Nov 24, 2007 Round 3: Feb 26, 2008 D.J. King vs. George Parros These two teams fought 8 times in 4 meetings with the heavyweights going in three of those. Parros was frustrated by the young slugger, unable to beat him in a set of three very good fights. Round 1: Oct 23, 2007 Round 2: Feb 01, 2008 Round 3: Feb 22, 2008 Zack Stortini vs. Martin Lapointe Here's a weird one. Since Zack Stortini came into the NHL last January Martin Lapointe has seven total fights. FOUR of them are against Zack Stortini, including two more this year. I'm not aware what gets Lapointe so upset about Zack but they have developed quite a mini-rivalry in a year and a half. It will be interesting to see if it continues next year if Lapointe moves back to the West. Round 1: Dec 23, 2007 Round 2: Feb 06, 2008 Bonus Coverage: Two meetings last year: Round 1: Feb 09, 2007 Round 2: Apr 01, 2007 My Pick In an ordinary year, the quantity and quality of the Cote-Roy confrontations would garner it a victory. But the Barch-May fights were so good that there is little doubt they will walk away with the award. It reminded me of the Ray-Vial battles a decade ago. Previous Winners 2003-04: Eric Cairns – Dale Purinton 2005-06: Andrew Peters – Brian McGrattan 2006-07: Donald Brashear - Colton Orr Last edited by Merlin401; 04-15-2008 at 08:54 PM. |

I give it to May vs Barch just for the quality of those fights. Roy vs Cote was really good too and I cant fault anyone for picking either. A lil video of Roy flipping out would be nice too, haha.

I know they fought twice, but if you look at their fight cards, Thornton vs. Cote is common on each respective card. And most of those battles are entertaining. I would have added that to the list myself.
my vote went to May-Barch though. |

Barch vs. May in a landslide.
The other "feuds" weren't as entertaining as this one. These two had four VERY good, toe-to-toe fights. This feud was awesome. Great fights, and hopefully it carries over into next season, because it's fun for the fans to watch!

Can't really call May/Barch a feud merely because of the fact that both guys had a mutual respect for one another and their fights were staged in their entirety.
With that being said, I loved the Riley Cote/Andre Roy rivalry that seemed to spark this season. Their fights were even for the most part and were pretty spirited. You could also tell that there was a general dislike between the two, and that's why this feud gets my vote.

I love to actually see hate seething from an opponent's mouth, that is what makes a feud. Granted, Barch/May fights usually were quite a show, but the Roy/Cote feud went out of control in their last game against each other. I nearly crapped myself watching Roy flipping out from my couch.

May - Barch, they look like they really enjoy their tilts which makes it more fun to watch. When they're scheduled to play you just know they're thinking about getting together.
