2006-07: Worst Enforcing Team
Nominees
Boston Bruins 29 fights; ditched their heavyweight (Wade Brookbank) and went without a fighter until recalling middlweight Jeremy Reich after falling mostly out of contention. Carolina Hurricanes 25 fights; setting the example of winning a Stanley Cup enforcerless (though where did that get them this year?). Colorado Avalanche 20 fights; most by middlweight Ian Laperriere who was left out to dry defending a team full of non-fighters. Detroit Red Wings 10 fights; half by minor leaguers long gone (Brad Norton, Darryl Bootland). No regular fighter present through virtually all of the season. Montreal Canadiens 17 fights; slowly weeded out the fighters from their lineup including Aaron Downey, Garth Murray and Craig Rivet. My Pick Detroit with the three-peat. They have set the bar impossibly low going long stretches without anyone in the lineup that would even conceivably drop the gloves. I'd like to write in and say the Minnesota Wild...
But, to pick from the teams up there, there is no doubt in my mind that its the Detroit Red Wings. Carolina is very close IMO though. |

Detroit Red Wings hands down... it would be interesting to see how long Brad Norton would have stayed in the line up if he didn't have that shoulder injury so early in the season, and I was really looking forward to watching Tomas Kopecky's physical play and getting a chance to see him fight live this year but that was spoiled when he broke his collarbone

Yeah, I was surprised we didn't crack the list. I guess just too many disappointing teams to be runner-up to Detroit.

It's easily Detroit. They are a weak team filled with a bunch of wussies.
They make me sick. They need to get a real enforcer, because they always get pushed around, but they deserve it. What a pansy team. Haha, three-peat for Detroit. I like how they already have 40 votes and a few other teams only have 1. This is a no-brainer.

Hands down this is the Wings, for a team that was once the toughest in hockey to fall to this is a shame. As a fight fan I hope they loose as quickly as possible in the playoffs.
