2006-07 Grimson Award: Best Punching Power/Most Destructive Fighter

Nominees

Derek Boogaard
We know all about him, especially breaking Todd Fedoruk's face. It is a matter of record that he single handedly scared/damaged at least three teams into bringing up enforcers (Edmonton Oilers - Zack Stortini, Calgary Flames - Eric Godard, Anaheim Ducks - Shawn Thornton, George Parros) and probably influenced the Colorado Avalanche to pursue Scott Parker and the Vancouver Canucks to beef up with Jeff Cowan.

Donald Brashear
Bloodied up Vitaly Vishnevski and put the beating of the season on Aaron Downey among his other big wins.

Colton Orr
He added a few knockdowns (Eric Boulton, Cam Janssen), blood (Jody Shelley), and major concussions (Todd Fedoruk) to his career resume of destruction.

My Pick

Colton Orr, Derek Boogaard. Boogaard, Orr. Yikes. We haven't seen two man-slayers in the NHL like this in years. Or should I say Fedoruk slayers? Boogaard merely shattered his face and Fedoruk skated off in pain. He was carted off on a stretcher from Orr's right. Edge Orr. Colt 45 gets my vote this year.

Boogaard gets the edge for me, since he broke Fridge's face first.

I think Boogaard should take this one for the second year in a row.

Derek Boogaard, again. The punch he landed on Fedoruk, to shatter his bones is amazing.

It's easily Boogaard.
He KO's a ton of people, and that's why hardly anyone wants to go toe-to-toe with him. He's the biggest fighter in the league, and the most destructive. His punch is very powerful.

Wow, it looks like Boogy will win a lot of awards this year.

If Boogey connects a good one, lights out.
No need to explain.

No doubt about it. The Boogyman has the most memorable knock-out fights. This isn't even a contest!

Orr for me-He KO'd Todd, and like Merlin said-he had to be stretchered off the ice. Boogaard is stronger, no doubt.

Orr.

How the h*ll did Brashear and his huggy rabbit punches make this poll?

Shouldnt it be the Twist award instead of Grimson?(only cuz Kocur award has been used allready)
