2006-07 Fight of the Year
I still think that this is the most prestigious award of them all. The best fight of the year!
Nominees Downey vs Neil Oct 14, 2006 Vandermeer vs Gratton Dec 7, 2006 Thornton vs Bell Dec 26, 2006 Tootoo vs Mayers Jan 6, 2007 Godard vs Boogaard I Jan 9, 2007 Simon vs Fedoruk Feb 27, 2007 Gratton vs Koci II Mar 10, 2007 My Pick For being long, being a pure war, having quality punches landed all throughout my pick goes to: Vandermeer vs Gratton Dec 7, 2006. Great fight. Previous Winners 2003-04: Chris Simon vs Grant McNeill (Simon vs McNeill Nov 26, 2003) 2005-06: Todd Fedoruk vs Brian McGrattan (Fedoruk vs McGrattan Jan 19, 2006) Last edited by Merlin401; 04-10-2007 at 12:08 PM. |

Jim Vandermeer, IMO, gets this award two years in a row.
His slug fest of a brawl with Aaron Downey, and now his toe to toe war with Josh Gratton. Jimmy V vs. Gratts gets my vote. Boogaard-Godard a close second.

I'd say Godard Vs Boogaard. It was a bit better then Vandermeer vs Gratton in my view. As the ending was great as everyone thought there was no way to beat Boogaard in a toe to toe fight but Godard didn't just beat him he dropped him. It was the fight of the year IMO which isn't saying much as there wasn't many quality fights this year.

My actual favorite wasnt even listed, so i put my vote on Simon-Fedoruk.
The first Brashear-Peters fight, that one was awesome. It had some kind of drama that you rarely saw this past season imo, hard to explain but thats how i feel about it. The old against the new, a clash of generations...
