WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that they have signed Wheeling Nailers
forward Chris Barton to an AHL contract.
An attendee of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton’s training camp this season, Barton has recorded 24 points (15g-9a) in 18 games with the Nailers. He leads all first-year players in points and ranks third overall in the ECHL with 15 goals scored. The 24-year old is the reigning ECHL Rookie of the Month after compiling seven goals and eight assists in 10 games during the month of November.
A native of Calgary, Alberta, Barton played in 141 career games at Merrimack College, where he scored 48 goals and 71 assists for 119 points. He also skated in one game in the AHL for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers
