WB/Scranton Re-Signs Ryan Schnell
WILKES-BARRE, Pa. –The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have agreed to terms with forward Ryan Schnell on a one-year American Hockey League contract, it was announced on Wednesday.
Schnell, 22, appeared in 11 regular-season games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in 2010-11, recording two goals, 37 penalty minutes, and a plus-rating. The 6-3, 225-lb. native of Cary, Illinois spent most of the season with the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL), where he posted five points (3+2) in 36 games. Schnell also led the squad with 158 penalty minutes. Prior to turning pro, Schnell spent parts of two seasons with the Chicago Steel (USHL), tallying 20 points (7+13) and 244 penalty minutes in 75 career games. He was also a two-time member of the United States National Under-18 Team from 2005-07. Schnell was originally signed by Wilkes-Barre/Scranton as a free agent on October 6, 2010.
