Mini brawl that broke out a couple of minutes after the first fights. A little surprised that they only gave out a few roughing minors for this.

12-14-12 Adirondack Phantoms vs. Syracuse Crunch...

Man, I love the bad blood that constantly boils in the EAST.
There are so many great games and rivalries.

Rinaldo looked like a guy who never fought before...oh wait, maybe its because he doesn't do that anymore.

THANK YOU Mike Angelidis and Keith Aulie for forcing this guy to scrap. Hope that humble pie wakes him up and makes him realize you can't neglect scrapping/also just run around hitting people and not own up for it.

Never would have expected that out of Akeson though I heard he beat some guy earlier in the year while in Trenton.

I would like to see McGinn and Labrie go again sometime. Ginner never really seemed to get set and Labrie just took it to him. Great job by PCL. Also love Ginner not being afraid to step up for a teammate though.

I give Angelidis an edge over Eddy though the refs got involved way too quick. When he got back up Eddy looked to be getting in better shape but Angelidis could have still kept it going who knows. Can't say enough about Eddy and him stepping in to defend teammates w/o hesitation.

Anyone know who Konan was involved with? He did well while Rinaldo helped him out. (Which was disgusting then watching Rinaldo try to be a peacemaker on the ice) Then got beat.

This is probably the third best rivalry this season.

One other note: HOW ON EARTH, are you dressing Dimmen over Fitzgerald against this team? Heck, even dress Testwuide over Wellwood or Bordson. They dress Nightingale, Labrie, Angelidis, Gudas, and Cote and you don't dress your toughest guy? Thank goodness for the Phantoms Cooper didn't dress Neilson or else this would have been even more embarassing. I mean the Phantoms have guys willing to go and I know Dimmen can scrap if need be as can Konan, BUT this is the toughest team in the league. The "best" fighter dressed tonight doesn't fight anymore and gets embarassed by Aulie showing that not fighting obviously has made you rusty. Mcginn's no slouch but he's probably about only as good as Angelidis, Gudas, or Cote. Manning doesn't seem interested anymore in fighting with his A on his chest now and he's probably up there with McGinn. But that still leaves 2 (3 counting Neilson) dudes that can do as they please with no fear on the ice.

I mean don't get me wrong, I know the games about W's but this is part of the game just like the PK or PP. And this is in your own barn. So frustrating. Done ranting.

....
Exactly how I feel about players who do that. Checks are ok but acting like a guided missal and throwing potential career ending hits...then skating away... is not acceptable.

Damn, Phantoms got whooped in the fighting dept... with the exception of the Akeson Win.

I don't mind his hitting. Yeah he flirts with crossing the line. But that's where the onus is on guys to make him pay for it. My issue is this year he's repeatedly said he doesn't want to waste his time fighting in the AHL and yet wants to talk about how hockey really should be and tough etc. Yet he won't scrap when people come calling. Nor is he sticking up for teammates.

In the video the best part is Angelidis comes from the other side of the ice, in the neutral zone looking for him. Aulie was in there then too. Angelidis got to him but Eddy engaged him.

Should also note, this isn't the first time the Crunch have tried to make him fight.

Also, Phantoms fans are ticked at Rinaldo so far this season. And also not happy that Murray keeps scratching Fitzgerald against teams like this, especially at home. Hopefully these messages get realized.

Ronaldo ducking the fights got old a long time ago and there are a lot of players trying to get him to go. A one point last night Nightengale crosschecked him in tha back about a dozen times in a row trying to get him to fight until he took a penalty. That started a scrum that Rinaldo made a beeline to get out of leavin the Phantoms players involved short handed. Hopefully this fight will snap him out of it.

Exactly! I mean, McGinn and schenn have gone out of their way to fight guys standing up for teammates so far and honestly, those two are worth far more than Rinaldo to the team. ESPECIALLY Schenn. If Schenn has no problem doing it, then pretty sure the problem is the heart of Zac Rinaldo.

Maybe Fitzgerald can tune him up in practice since that's the only time other than warmups that Murray seems to let him dress. Tonight we shall see, they got Nolan and Clune who are in his range.

Also, did Gus return? I saw a tweet about him leaving and going to the locker room limping.

Gus returned, took one shift and left the ice again on the next stopage. I would not be surprised if he did not play tonight.

Rinaldo not fighting in the A

Do you think it has been Rhino s choice to not fight, he has played almost every game, still hitting but not fighting and still playing. The change in style, I have to believe is from management player development or even Holmgren. If he changed his game on his own the flyers phantoms would not play him. Not sure who s call it is but I am sure Rhino can t make those decisions and still see the ice as often as he does.

I think "Rhino" is a worse nickname than "Car Bomb" if that's possible.
