They like to show these two teams because it's the only time the rink in Abby is sold out. It looks better on tv because it's a sellout rather than the usual 1,000 people in the building despite what the boxscore says the attendance really is.

I'm not sure about other AHL teams, but here there is zero atmosphere in the building & it's so quiet that you can hear the guy across the arena fart. The main reason is because it's Calgary's farm team but at least put an entertaining product on the ice. Winning isn't everything as shown by the horrible attendance game after game in Abby. They've had a couple sellouts the games where the kids in Oklahoma came & tonight against the Canuck's farm team.
