Phantoms Sign Steven Delisle

The Adirondack Phantoms have announced the addition of big defenseman Steven Delisle who joins the team on an AHL contract.

Steven Delisle is a 6-6, 210 pound right-handed shooter from Levis, Quebec. The 23-year-old has played in 10 career games in the AHL and 99 games in the ECHL in his two previous professional seasons.

Last year, he appeared in four games with the Connecticut Whale registering two assists and six penalty minutes. He spent most of the campaign with their ECHL affiliate in Greenville, SC where he played in 61 games scoring four goals and 16 assists for 20 points with 85 penalty minutes.

In 2011-12, he played in the AHL with the Springfield Falcons for six games recording zero points while also seeing action in 38 games with the ECHL Chicago Express with one goal and three assists for four points. He also spent six games with the Fort Wayne Komets, then of the CHL, in the 2010-11 season.

Delisle has been part of two major trades between the Blue Jackets and Rangers organizations.

On July 23, 2012, Steven Delisle was traded by Columbus to the New York Rangers along with Rick Nash in exchange for Brandon Dubinsky, Artem Anisimov and Tim Erixon.

On April 3, 2013, Delisle was returned to Columbus along with Marian Gaborik and Blake Parlett in exchange for Derick Brassard, John Moore, Derek Dorsett and a draft-selection. Delisle was allowed to remain with the New York Rangers' affiliate in Greenville for the remainder of the season while he was Columbus property.

Delisle was a fourth-round selection (#107 overall) of the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft from the Gatineau Olympiques of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. With Gatineau and later with Rouyn-Noranda Huskies for four seasons from 2006-2010, Delisle played a total of 253 career games in Major Juniors with 17 goals and 83 assists for 100 points with 317 penalty minutes.
