Norfolk Signs Taylor Vichorek to SPC
NORFOLK, Va. – The Norfolk Admirals have signed defenseman Taylor Vichorek to an AHL Standard Player’s Contract.

Vichorek, 21, is a 6-foot-8, 270-pound defenseman from Moose Lake, Minnesota. He appeared in 26 games this season for Hamline University, scoring six goals and seven assists with 45 penalty minutes and a plus-8 rating.

Prior to attending Hamline this season, Vichorek spent three years playing junior hockey in the North American Hockey League between the Fairbanks Ice Dogs and Alexandria Blizzard. In 151 career NAHL games, he registered 20 goals and 27 assists with 362 penalty minutes.

I'm curious about something.

Don't AHL teams usually sign guys fresh out of juniors or college to ATOs, not SPCs?
