Annual Celebrity Serve where the players serve the patrons and bartend at Goolby's this last Tuesday.
Tips, Raffles, and Auctions monies raised go the The Admirals Powerplay Foundation which gets forwarded to many note worthy charities. The boys were in fine form and it appeared a good time was had by all. There are always surprises at this event. One was the cougar offering $1,000 to play Twister with a shirtless Scott Valentine. (yes, this was accepted...) and the auction the t-shirts off our backs portion of the night. Some shirts went for around 80 bucks, but the craziness happened for Victor Bartley's shirt. $3,300 dollars!?!?! Don't ask me why, but an all out bidding war took place and no one was more surprised than Victor was... My wife to a ****load of pictures and I hope to post some soon. Ads get back after it tomorrow night with a post game concert by the Dropkick Murphy's after the tilt with Abbotsford. 26-22-2-1

Get to within a point of the playoffs and then crap out the next two games...
Pustinen takes one off the ankle and then the boys play short as he can't get up and it only got worse from there as the bacon score on that sequence. The boys better pull they're heads out of it quick or it will be the first time in 10 years of not makings the playoffs.

All the cliches come to mind...
One game at a time, still have games in hand, got to play a full 60 minutes, etc. My cliche for the boys is **** or get off the pot. I'm hearing all the right things but ****, quit saying you're gonna play a full game and do it! The 1st last night was a yawner, the 2nd was terrible, and then all of a sudden, the 3rd was a different team entirely. Thinking about what my son said last night that they sure stole that one. Partially true. I'm thinking also that if they give that kind of effort the entire game, they blow Houston away instead of squeezing out a 3-2 OT win. It's go time boys.

Line Brawl!
Or the equivalent to Hockey Sex. In either case, I needed a drink and a smoke afterward...
In my opinion, it all started when that puss ref Thiessen wouldn't let Stortini and Flick get it out of their systems and called both for 2 min unsportsmanlike penalties earlier in the game during a faceoff. They had been going at it since the opening puck drop and good ol' #11 with the waterwings felt he needed to play U.N. instead of just letting them go. It kept brewing and brewing until Latta's shift in the second when he just started banging around until he found a partner in Lalonde in front of the Hogs bench. Nice long square off where they dropped all the gear and had a good fight. Going edge/win Latta as he almost got jerseyed, corrected himself and kept going. Good to see Latta's wrist held up after he broke it earlier this year blocking a shot. Both those guys go to the box, but that was by far the end of it. Coming out of the TV timeout, the goalies are in their nets and both teams at their benches except Flick who is by Jeremy Smith just in front of his goal and they both start chirping. From accounts, they were giving it to Smith the whole game and the next thing that happens, Flick grabs Smith and starts punching as it comes right to our corner. Smith firing back as well as a 180 lb goalie can and then all hell broke loose with the boys rushing down the ice, both benches clearing , with Stortini, Foss, Ford, and Chis Mueller leading the way with Latta bolting out of the box sans jersey going after Flick in the corner. Brodie Dupont was totally dismantling an Ice Hog and he got absolutely nothing! There was so much going on at once, it was hard to see it all. After 4 minutes of a lot of punches being thrown and a lot more squaring up, they called the period early and gave us an extra intermission to clean up the mess. At least Flick was the last guy to get up off the ice in the corner. Funny thing was, while 3 of the 4 officials were having their pow-wow about how to sort it out, Flick gets escorted to the box. Stortini skates over and goes right up to the door and starts beaking at Flick again! Flick was none too much in a hurry to get up out of the box at this point. Zack looked like he was going to kill him and a linesman finally comes over and gets Zack into the other box. Flick then gets escorted across to the bench and they wouldn’t let Zack out until he was up the tunnel. Michael Latta has a potty mouth! When he was being held back while things were on the way to being settled, he's about 10 feet away from Thiessen and his girlfriend Shaun Davis (the other ref...) and was screaming at them both, "That's ****ing bull****!!!" Smith gets kicked out for 'continuing the altercation' are you kidding me? Their goalie Hutton skates all the way down to our end and gets into it going after Jeremy. At least Hutton got tossed too. When they finally restarted the last half of the 2nd, Jeremy came out and skated his half of the ice with a few of the boys until the refs corralled them back to the bench because they still hadn't got it all sorted out after close to a half an hour! AHL website has it all screwed up as the individual minutes don't match the totals and half of the penalties are missing. Also, as of now, the Admirals are not going to release video. Why the **** not? You don't want to show 5,900 fans going crazy cheering for their respective teams? Or show how much of a piece of **** Flick was going after Smith? Or show the boys stand up for one of their own? Rediculous... Admirals have a video of the post game interview by Herbers at milwaukeeadmirals.com.

Stortini lays another big hit as he's been really cranking up the intesity and draws a FM in the process as the Ads take both games in Charlotte.
Not much of a fight. Would be interested to see if Roy gets a possible suspension out of this. Stortini lays a big open ice hit on Dolan. No penalty called on the play as both players lose their edge. While Stortini is on his knees getting up, Roy crosschecks him in the jaw with his left hand while holding the buttend of the stick. Pretty ****ing dirty if you ask me. Around the 40 second mark of the video.
Latta serving the 2nd of his 3 game suspension and Atte Engren between the pipes filling in for Smith, who served his gamer, stopping 33 of 35. One point out of the playoffs as the boys head on to Texas.

As Rinne35 called them, those Pesky Admirals, just keep coming.
3-0 on the 7 game trip beating San Antonio 3-1. Team is playing some damn good hockey since the Hogs game and putting in a solid effort for the whole game. Great to see. Keep it going boys!

Anders bangs his head on the ice after the collision with Ellis, Smith gets called up to back Pekka, but it doesn't matter!
Engren stands tall with the boys and clamps down Houston during the SO and the Ads win their 4th on the roadie beating them 2-1. Shooting up to 5th, yes 5th in the playoff standings, to actually have control of their destiny. Keep it up boys!

They're in? I mean...they're in!
Got 5 out 6 possible points in the last 3 games and came up with the 5th seed in the West. Not too long ago they were in 11th and on the outside looking in. Although Rockford basically owned Milwaukee in series play, the team really took off after the line brawl on April 1 going 6-1-1 during that span. Facing Abbotsford in the first round and have a 3-0-1 mark against them during the regular season. In oddest damn playoff series scenario so far, with Milwaukee being the lower seed, they actually get the first two games of the 5 gamer at home, so the Flames could actually be down 0-2 by the time the series goes west and would have to sweep the final three games to advance.

Josh Shalla signs an ATO and joins Milwaukee just in time for the first round against Abbotsford.
The 6' 2" 203 pound Shalla has 119 goals 94 assists in 189 games played with Saginaw of the OHL.
