St. John's IceCaps head coach Keith McCambridge has announced that
Jason Jaffray has been named team captain for the 2012-13 season.
Jason King and
Dean Arsene have been named as assistant captains by the head coach.
Jaffray was the IceCaps captain last season in the club’s inaugural season. The Rimbey, Alberta native played 47 games with St. John’s last year, scoring 17 goals and adding 21 assists before suffering a season-ending injury in late March. He also played 13 games with the
Winnipeg Jets last season.
King is a Corner Brook native who led the IceCaps in scoring with 22 goals last season. The 31-year-old has played in 59 National Hockey League games, scoring 12 goals.
Arsene is a free agent signee with the IceCaps who has already captained three American Hockey League clubs, including last year’s
Portland Pirates. The rugged 32-year-old defenceman has played 13 NHL games, all with the
Edmonton Oilers.
