Hershey at Philadelphia 12/21/07

The referee gave the fighting majors to Potulny and Potulny, but it looked more like Downie and Clymer doing the actual fighting to me.

Did he fight himself and gave Hershey a 10 min PP in that case?

Bet he got benched for that!

Woulda have been cool to see the brothers fight, but yeah that ref really screwed those calls up. Which is really nothing new.

I'll give it a couple of days to see if the AHL changes the box score. If not, I'll see if I can't change it to Downie anyway in our system.

Thanks for the clip. That gave a better view then what i had. but apparently I had a better view then the ref because the Potulny brothers did not fight from what I could see live, or in this clip.

Thanks for the clip.

John Walton always talks about these two playing against eachother.

Quote:
Potulny and his older brother, Bears winger Grant Potulny, were involved in a second-period altercation while their parents watched from the stands. Beth and Jay Potulny are visiting from North Dakota.

A raw look at the box score leaves the impression that the pair fought, since they both received fighting majors at 15:59. Ryan Potulny fought Ben Clymer, but Grant Potulny was misidentified as the combatant by referee Ryan Fraser.

The incident began when Ryan Potulny hit Hershey's Jay Beagle from behind, and Clymer chased him down. Meanwhile, Philly's Steve Downie jumped Tyler Sloan.

"I just saw Downie swinging, so I came in there," Grant Potulny said. "Somehow we ended up going down, the three of us [Clymer and both Potulnys], and I ended up on top of Ryan."

Grant Potulny took the team bus back to Hershey, leaving Ryan Potulny to explain things.

"I'm the one who has to go out to dinner with my mom, not him, so I'm sure I'll hear about that," Ryan Potulny said. "But I told him when we were in the penalty box that, 'All the guys are going to call us. We should tell them we went at center ice and threw blows, went toe-to-toe.'"

It was Ryan Potulny's first pro fight. Both brothers said they'd fight each other if a situation called for it.

"He hit a guy from behind," Grant Potulny said. "If it ended up being me and him, it ended up being me and him. I was going there to do something and ended up kind of falling or whatever. At that point, he doesn't have hard feelings towards me and I wouldn't have hard feeling towards him. He knows I've got to do my job and he's got to do his job."

B/c he's a flyer/phantom. See i'm willing to bet when i got to pennlive they'll all be whining that Downie jumped clymer....after clymer jumped Potulny. I have no problem w/ any of this. Potulny boarded the bear and Clymer as he shoudl went after Potulny. Downie who's tougher than Potsy and knowing Potsy's an offensive player for them went in to stick up for Potulnly. Did Ryan even drop his gloves??? I couldn't tell. Downie whailed on Clymer.

Where walton who is usually fairly unbiased is wrong. Tyler Sloan wasn't even in there at first. No way he's jumping him. Walton who wanted to talk about Downie's troubles during play in the first until Louis Robitaille scored to interupt him.

I used to have no problems w/ walton but he's been becoming progressively more biased. Oh well its his job though.

Well done Downie. Should not have gotten a third man in. A Rep penalty.

Here's my question where the heck has Grant been?
