Rockford is no stranger to leaving the bench to fight. This one just happened to be a lot better than last year's one vs MIL.

What's up with McArdle going around being a bltch?

Its funny that especially Beach and McArdle are the biggest ******* in the league, only beeing tough when they rough up none-fighters.
Those two can be lucky that they have the toughest team in the AHL to back them up!

The Griffins have decent toughness in light-hw's like Grant, Evans and middleweights like Aubry (big guy but cant fight) Callahan..
But they are no competition for the Ice Hogs who are full of fighters..

Brookbank as a heayyweight, Flick, Stanton ..
When they lost Bollig and Shaw they called up McArdle and Brad Mills!

He knows he can do this having guys like Brookbank playing on the same team..
He will be a none-factor on the ice as soon as he plays for another team..

Wow, that was one of the quickest escalations I've ever seen in a brawl. It seemed like two people squared off normally. Five seconds later every player on the ice was fighting. And then five seconds later the entire teams were fighting! Crazy video!!

What a thing of beauty in today's age seeing benches empty like that! I'm just afraid of the suspensions and fines that will be dealt out.

So how did this madness start?

From Reed Schreck of the Rockford Register Star, on the 11-6 loss by the IceHogs to the Griffins:

Quote:
It all started when Rockford’s Kyle Beach and Grand Rapids’ Riley Sheahan squared off. Rockford definitely needed a spark, trailing 6-3 and having had five straight minor penalties called against it in the first 11 minutes of the second period.

Fights started breaking out all over. Then the benches emptied. Even Rockford goalie Carter Hutton went flying down the ice to take on counterpart Petr Mrazek. “Guys are sticking up for each other, and that’s a big part with us,” said Rockford captain Martin St. Pierre. “Everybody backs up each other. It doesn’t matter what your role is on the team.”
Here were the penalties from the brawl, including the 13 game misconducts:

Gleason Fournier Gr (fighting, game misconduct - secondary altercation), 11:58;
Brian Lashoff Gr (fighting, game misconduct - secondary altercation), 11:58;
Petr Mrazek Gr (fighting, game misconduct - secondary altercation), 11:58;
Francis Pare Gr (fighting, game misconduct - secondary altercation), 11:58;
Riley Sheahan Gr (fighting), 11:58;
Tomas Tatar Gr (fighting, game misconduct - secondary altercation), 11:58;
Kyle Beach Rfd (instigating, fighting, misconduct - instigating, game misconduct - aggressor), 11:58;
Wade Brookbank Rfd (fighting, game misconduct - secondary altercation), 11:58; Adam Clendening Rfd (fighting, game misconduct - secondary altercation), 11:58;
Rob Flick Rfd (game misconduct - leaving the bench), 11:58;
Carter Hutton Rfd (fighting, game misconduct - secondary altercation), 11:58;
Shawn Lalonde Rfd (fighting, game misconduct - secondary altercation), 11:58;
Kenndal McArdle Rfd (game misconduct - third man in), 11:58;
Philippe Paradis Rfd (fighting, game misconduct - secondary altercation), 11:58

Well that was spirited. The teams exchanged words after the game, but there were no further fireworks.

As the Register Star notes, there were 230 penalty minutes in this game. There had been 413 PIMs in the teams’ previous four battles combined.

Circle Feb. 22 on the calendar for ye olde rematch.

here's a fan cam I found, it shows Beach laying unconscious in the hallway and Hutton flying down the rink to beat up GR's goalie.
And in case you're wondering, I hear that Beach is fine. He was just briefly passed out.

This one just shows the players leaving the benches:

Note, if you're wearing earphones, turn down volume first. Trust me.

Gotta hand it to Rockford fans, they loves the old fashion hockey.

Watching that brawl video brought a tear to my eye. Just beautiful to watch. Something you will never see in the NHL again.
