Darren Haydar Named Wolves Captain
The Chicago Wolves have named right wing DARREN HAYDAR team captain for the 2012-13 season.
The 32-year-old forward served as team captain during the 2007-08 campaign and is just the third player in Wolves history to don the "C" in multiple years. He joins Steve Maltais (1994-96 and 1997-2005), Troy Murray (1996-97), Kevin Dahl (2000-01), Derek MacKenzie (2005-06), Jamie Rivers (2008-09), Jason Krog (2009-11), and Nolan Baumgartner (2011-12) on the list of Chicago captains.
Forwards GUILLAUME DESBIENS, ANDREW EBBETT, and ANDREW GORDON have been named alternate captains for the season.
"Darren knows what it takes to wear that letter," said Wolves Head Coach SCOTT ARNIEL. "He is held in the highest regards by his teammates and the coaching staff and I feel confident he can lead this team."
HAYDAR enters the season ranked fourth on Chicago's all-time scoring register with 108 goals and 311 points in just 271 games with the club spanning four seasons (2006-08; 2010-12).He became the 22nd player in American Hockey League history to record 700 career points last season and has racked up 731 points (272G, 459A) in 709 career AHL contests with Chicago, the Milwaukee Admirals, Grand Rapids Griffins and Lake Erie Monsters from 2002-12.
The Milton, Ontario, native also has skated in 23 career National Hockey League contests with Nashville (2002-03), Atlanta (2006-08) and Colorado (2009-10), posting seven assists and eight points.
