Crunch Sign Mirasty to Contract

The Syracuse Crunch announced today that they have signed left wing Jon Mirasty to an American Hockey League contract.

Mirasty, 25, has appeared in 11 games this season for the Crunch, tallying 1 goal and 13 penalty minutes. A native of Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, Mirasty was signed to a professional try-out contract on October 3, 2007.

the Nasty Show..

Thursday December 06, 2007, 8:33 PM

With a day to kill in Grand Rapids on Thursday before games there Friday and Saturday, the Crunch started off by sleeping late.

The team deserved it. It arrived in town at 4:30 a.m., after an overnight bus trip from Rockford.

A lot of players then went to a local mall, and later a team dinner was scheduled.

I caught up with Jon Mirasty while he was shopping. I asked him about how rewarding it was to get a full AHL deal based almost strictly on the merits of his play instead of the one-dimensional ability to fight. He's had just one bout this season.

"It makes you feel good that I was able to play and not have to (just) fight,'' he said. "We're kind of on a (points) streak. A big part of it has to do with the physical play. I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing.''

Added coach Ross Yates: "He's definitely a presence. Other teams know he's out there. He's really improved his game. He's gotten in better shape, he skates better, and he hasn't hurt us any time he's been on the ice.''

I personally feel that he wouldn't got a contract if it wasn't for Gillies giving him a go. Good for Mirasty.

I've been to 2 Crunch games, and the second one Mirasty saw a somewhat regular shift throughout the game (the first was against my weak azz Amerks). It was a close game, and he was out there during critical times. Congrats Nasty!!!

i hope he'll get to attend an NHL camp next year. Great entertaining fighter, and well deserves it. It would be a great underdog story

Bonvie vs Mirasty

Was a very long fight. They chased the linesman away a couple of times. Have to give the tilt to Dennis. He had a lot more hits that landed. I watched this live at the Arena. Would love watch it on video. Hope someone can get ahold of thee video from the Pens.
