Bulldogs Assign 5 to ECHL Including Ian Schultz; Release 9 Others
SHERBROOKE, QC – Montreal Canadiens and Hamilton Bulldogs General Manager Marc Bergevin announced today that the club has released 14 players from training camp.
Forwards Stefan Chaput, Olivier Fortier and Ian Schultz and defenceman Joe Stejskal have been assigned to the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL while forward Daultan Leveille has been assigned to the San Francisco Bulls of the ECHL. The following players have been released outright from training camp: forwards Spencer Bennett, Michel Ouellet, Brendan Ranford, Zack Torquato and Kyle Rank; defencemen Sebastian Owuya and Cody Wild; and goaltenders Scott Darling and Cody Reichard. |
You have no idea how pissed I am to see Ian Schultz being sent down in the ECHL.
23pts and 104PIM last season wasn't enough for you, bastards? |

Heard he showed up in bad shape again and had a poor camp. No excuses for that if you're a professional. Hopefully this wakes him up.

^If thats true its definitely the right move. Also, he'll get top 6 minutes in the E, whereas he'd be playing 5 min every other game rotating with Stortini and Hagel most likely in Hamilton. Just hope he puts his work in and gets better and doesn't become the next Greg Stewart of the Habs system.

Oops. I posted this in the ECHL section. You guys don't understand how happy I am! I'm heading to Wheeling on Sunday for their pre-season game against Cincy. Cincy has Penner, Liambas, Sawyer, and Hotham.

Apparantly, they signed Zack Stortini when they learned Ian Schultz was arriving to camp overweight (again).
He'll have to learn how to be a professionnal... but the step between the ECHL and the NHL is gigantic. Last season, he got called up by the Canadiens but didn't play a game. This season, he's sent down in the ECHL... that sucks. |
