Benn Olson Loaned To Alaska (ECHL)

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (Jan. 19, 2011) - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers announced today they have loaned defenseman Benn Olson to the Alaska Aces of the ECHL.

Olson, 24, has posted one goal and team-leading 74 penalty minutes in 17 games with the Sound Tigers this season The 6-4, 215-pound defenseman joined the Sound Tigers on an AHL contract this season after appearing in 17 games with the Sound Tigers on a professional tryout contract last season.

The Port McNeil, BC native is in the midst of his fourth professional season and has appeared in 178 pro games, including 98 contests in the ECHL with the Florida Everblades and Cincinnati Cyclones. In those 98 ECHL games between Florida and Cincinnati, Olson has recorded one goal and 12 assists in addition to 335 penalty minutes.

Alaska now has Olsson and Marsh on their defensive. NICE.
and about time after getting pushed arround for years.
Sucks for Olsson.

Hope he's back soon. The Soundtigers have 3 PTO guys on defense and send down a contracted player. Thats crap!

The aces have not been getting pushed around for years they have had some of the toughest guys in the echl. How ever it will be nice to have someone who can throw down with the heavy weights, it is needed this year.

since justin johnson left, the aces have been pushed around because the lack of a true heavyweight.

Interesting that this happens just a day after Riley Emmerson, one of the few true heavies in the E this year, gets traded out of the Western conference.

Which brings me to a question I've had for a while.

Anyone know if Alex Dzielski, who's been on IR since the start of the season, will play this year for the Aces?

Seemed to me like Olson deserved to stay in the A.
