Americans Announce 3rd Jersey for 2012-13

The Rochester Americans announced today that the team will introduce a third jersey for the 2012-13 American Hockey League season, wearing a red sweater featuring the classic “Americans” logo during select Friday night home games.

“The Amerks are excited to introduce a red third jersey that compliments the current home and road uniforms,” said Amerks Vice President of Business Operations Rob Kopacz. “Our uniform is among the best in all of sports, and the red alternate sweater integrates our current look with the historic Amerks design.”

The Amerks, who are entering their 57th AHL season, first wore a red sweater during the 1959-60 season and last wore one during the 2008-09 campaign. The latest version, produced by Reebok, features the Amerks’ primary logo, a white lace-up neck, a white star on each shoulder, and blue and white horizontal stripes across each arm and the bottom of the sweater. The alternate uniform will be completed with red socks with blue and white stripes, the team’s royal blue road helmets and standard blue pants with red and white stripes down each side.

The red Amerks sweater completes the “Red, White & Blue” ensemble for Rochester, as the team will continue to wear its white jersey as its primary home uniform and blue jerseys on the road.
