Idealy I would love to get in to the AJHL. The travel would be minor in camparison and to be honest we may gain more fan support if DC was AJHL.

As for the post earlier, we have a Jr.B team already that has been part of this community for many years so I can't see where the guy who wrote the article got that from.

Let's hope we get in to the AJHL, were only an hour and 20 minutes further away for teams then if they were going to Grande Prairie.

The Dawson Creek Rage have folded, leaving the players and coaches of the Jr. A team devastated.

“I was shocked,” said rookie forward Kelyn Opel.

“We had an emergency meeting at five in the afternoon and we weren’t expecting that, to say the least.”

The ownership group made the decision Monday in a unanimous vote. Earlier in the day, at a closed-door meeting, the Rage had asked city council for concessions on such things as rent, ticket fees and commission on corporate sales to reduce their expenses. Council turned down the request.

now it's alaska who might be moving to johnstown

PALMER — It has been “Mystery, Alaska,” but now the Alaska Avalanche appear to be headed to the hometown of “Slap Shot.”

Mark Lee, the owner of the Palmer-based North American Hockey League team, confirmed Tuesday afternoon that discussions are in place to relocate the Tier II Junior A hockey franchise to Johnstown, Pa.

“Nothing is inked, but it’s certainly promising,” said Lee, a local realtor who has been involved with the Avalanche franchise during the team’s seven-year stay in the Valley. “We have requested a relocation and sale of the team.”

Alexandria Blizzard (NAHL) players have been informed that the team is moving to Brookings, S.D., next season.
