Mass Effect 3

Got done with my first play through. Solid game up till the final cutscene before credits. EA took a huge dump on us by not telling us about what happened after the war. Instead of doing multiplayer they should have put more into the ending cinematics. And the multiple endings, they are pretty much the same damn ending with minor differences. Your choice(s) really dont make much of a difference.

Aside from that the story was the best of the series and really makes you care for your squad mates, Shepard, and gets you emotionally involved. Heck Im still sad by it lol. Most of the major questions got answered from the first 2. Pretty shocked about the catalyst and the result of my Geth/Quarian feud. Sadly I lost my favorite romance partner with it. If going by the ending, and first days of sales(890.000), I can see Mass Effect 4 coming.

8.7/10 game.

Anyone else get it?

I'm admittedly bias against crappy new school AAA big budget RPGs, but hearing you say that is not surprising to me.

Won't stop the gaming 'journalists' from giving it 10/10 perfect scores all day long though. Magazines/websites don't get the exclusive interviews if they don't.

The ending absolutely killed an otherwise wonderful game. There was no closure. None. What happened to everyone?

The big time reviewers have been handing 9s and 10s like candy even to mediocre games. IGN is by far the worse at doing it though, all thier recent releases have been 9s or higher. For the most part, the hype on Mass Effect 3 is justified, one of the best games I have played until the random ending(s) got thrown in.

Sounds kinda like what people were saying about Fallout 3 having multiple endings when in fact the endings were pretty much all the same (the narrator would change a few words around if you were good, bad, or neutral).

I'm not the biggest Mass Effect fan out there. I have the first game and I just couldn't get into it at all. I bought it because I kept on hearing people (mostly my friends but also review places) just rave about it. Maybe I'll give it one more chance.

I had the same problem with the 1st game. The game was very meh until you help the Salarians. To me, thats when the game really took off story wise. After the first few missions, I said heck with it and kept it on the shelf for almost a year, then decided to push on out of boredom. I got rewarded. Also, Mako missions sucked, worse part of the game bar none.

On an slighltly unrelated note, here is the best article describing the Mass Effect 3 ending, and why it was bad. The guy who wrote is a writer and gives a different and solid perspective on the ending. A must read for anyone trying to make some sense of Bioware and/or the ending. Its also good for general story telling too.
