NHL PIM record for a single game: 392 minutes
Game held the NHL PIM record for 23 years until it was
broken March 05, 2004 by the Flyers - Senators game.

Comments: This video is either a hockey game film or a classic film noir. I'm not sure which one, lol. At the game's date, there were only six NHL teams, called the "Original Six". It stayed this way until the '67-'68 season "great expansion" to twelve NHL teams.

Notice the rink Plexiglas in the video. Plexiglas, at this time, was very expensive and only the six NHL organizations could afford it. Their minor league farm clubs' arenas, some which were very nice for this period of time, could only afford chain link fencing, with many rinks having only chain link fencing at the end of the rinks, but no fan protection on the sides of the rink.

I have photos of the Boston Bruins farm club arena, in 1965 (and it was a very nice and brand new facility holding 8,800 max), showing the rink's chain link fencing. If you look at photos of NHL play in the '50's, they were using chain link fencing at that time.
