Here's the Game Info
Here's the drop your gloves source utilized poop on this game that set an NHL PIM game record, which was not broken until 23 years later on March 05, 2004 by the Flyers - Senators game.
Minnesota - Boston (1-5) Boston Garden Feb 26, 1981 NHL Record for most PIMs in one game: 392 minutes (record unbroken for 23 years) Summary Of Events 01 00:07 Fight Smith-Kasper 02 00:07 Fight Payne-Crowder 03 03:35 Fight Carlson-O'Reilly 04 08:06 Fight Younghans-Milbury 05 08:06 Fight Hartsburg-Gillis 06 08:58 Bench-Clearing Brawl 40 players 07 08:58 Fight MacAdam-Bourque 08 08:58 Fight Smith-McCrimmon 09 08:58 Fight Roberts-McCrimmon 10 08:58 Fight Smith-Crowder 11 29:00 Fight Maxwell-Cashman 12 37:13 Fight Zanussi-Middleton 13 39:42 Fight Shmyr-Kasper 14 41:35 Fight Christoff-Foster 15 58:52 Fight Christoff-Lalonde An absolutely wild night at the Boston Garden. Apparently Minnesota had something to prove because the fights break out almost instantly leading to a bench clearer and fights in the runway where a cameraman gets right in the middle of things. Supposedly the Bruins roughed the Stars up in an earlier meeting and they decided to fight back but you can hear the surprise on the Bruins announcers voices as they repeatedly wonder why all the mayhem is taking place. Gotta be seen!

You’re THE MAN vsurov2!.....
I owe you one!
MPEG / 320x240 / Five files = 84 MB / A- KB File sizes: (1) 18,594 / (2) 9,526 / (3) 12,212 (4) 14,878 (5) 30,808 From the 3 clips I have downloaded, this great video will clean-up and remaster real nice. The players-fans brawl video I have from this game is from the same initial source, but is a different file size and resolution, than any of these 5 videos. It must have come from a different d/l set. I don’t even know where I got it years back. Again, thanks for the great post. "I went to a fight the other night and a hockey game broke out." Rodney Dangerfield LOL, no hockey game broke out here. - dl ===More Game Info=== Bruins, North Stars Set Penalty Marks; 12 Players Ejected after the 1st Period New York Times; Sports Desk Section A, Page 19, Column 5,935 words February 27, 1981 NHL's Most Penalized Game In History; Bruins vs Northstars, 84 penalties (392 mins) Feb 26, 1981 Abstract: In a long night of punching, wrestling and anarchy the Boston Bruins and Minnesota North Stars set six National Hockey League records for brutality tonight, compiling 392 minutes of penalties in a 5-1 Bruin victory. Twelve players were ejected. The ugliness erupted after seven seconds of play and continued all game as the three officials seemed as much participants as administrators, having to separate fighting players with no help from any other authority. The major brawl took place in the first period when several banished North Stars became involved on the runway past the Bruin bench, slugging it out with fans and Bruin players before a handful of security guards arrived. When the second period began, nearly two hours after the game started, seven North Stars and five Bruins had been ejected. ==More Game Info== Game Recap: Minnesota 1 , Boston 5 Boston Garden - Feb 26, 1981 Goals: P1-09:56 SH 1-0 O'Connell (Middleton) P1-15:31 PP 2-0 Ratelle (O'Connell,Bourque) P2-26:31 2-1 Polich (Maxwell,Ciccarelli) P2-29:13 PP 3-1 Bourque (Park) P3-45:15 SH 4-1 Middleton P3-46:17 SH 5-1 Middleton (Ratelle) Penalties: 0:07 02 min highsticking BOS Kasper 0:07 05 min fighting BOS Kasper 0:07 02 min unsportmanlike BOS Crowder 0:07 05 min fighting BOS Crowder 0:07 10 min misconduct BOS Crowder 0:07 02 min highsticking MIN B.Smith 0:07 05 min fighting MIN B.Smith 0:07 02 min unsportmanlike MIN Payne 0:07 02 min unsportmanlike MIN Payne 0:07 05 min fighting MIN Payne 0:07 10 min misconduct MIN Payne 0:07 10 min misconduct MIN Payne 2:53 02 min highsticking BOS Milbury 2:53 02 min highsticking MIN Christoff 3:35 02 min slashing BOS O'Reilly 3:35 05 min fighting BOS O'Reilly 3:35 05 min fighting MIN Carlson 4:28 02 min hooking BOS McCrimmon 5:43 02 min interference MIN Hartsburg 6:02 02 min hooking MIN G.Smith 8:06 02 min BOS BENCH 8:06 05 min fighting BOS Milbury 8:06 05 min fighting BOS Gillis 8:06 10 min misconduct BOS Gillis 8:06 02 min MIN BENCH 8:06 05 min fighting MIN Younghans 8:06 05 min fighting MIN Hartsburg 8:06 10 min misconduct MIN Hartsburg 8:58 02 min highsticking BOS Bourque 8:58 05 min fighting BOS Bourque 8:58 05 min fighting BOS McCrimmon 8:58 05 min fighting BOS McCrimmon 8:58 10 min misconduct BOS McCrimmon 8:58 10 min game misconduct BOS McCrimmon 8:58 02 min roughing BOS McNab 8:58 10 min game misconduct BOS McNab 8:58 02 min roughing BOS O'Reilly 8:58 10 min game misconduct BOS O'Reilly 8:58 02 min roughing BOS Milbury 8:58 10 min game misconduct BOS Milbury 8:58 02 min roughing BOS Crowder 8:58 02 min roughing BOS Crowder 8:58 02 min roughing BOS Crowder 8:58 10 min game misconduct BOS Crowder 8:58 02 min leaving crease BOS Vachon 8:58 02 min roughing MIN MacAdam 8:58 05 min fighting MIN MacAdam 8:58 10 min misconduct MIN MacAdam 8:58 10 min game misconduct MIN MacAdam 8:58 05 min fighting MIN G.Smith 8:58 10 min game misconduct MIN G.Smith 8:58 05 min fighting MIN Roberts 8:58 10 min game misconduct MIN Roberts 8:58 02 min roughing MIN Carlson 8:58 10 min game misconduct MIN Carlson 8:58 02 min roughing MIN Younghans 8:58 10 min game misconduct MIN Younghans 8:58 10 min game misconduct MIN Hartsburg 8:58 10 min game misconduct MIN Payne 8:58 02 min MIN BENCH 8:58 02 min leaving crease MIN Meloche 12:44 02 min interference MIN Maxwell 14:02 02 min slashing MIN Zanussi 17:36 02 min hooking BOS Kasper 29:00 05 min fighting BOS Cashman 29:00 02 min highsticking MIN Maxwell 29:00 05 min fighting MIN Maxwell 29:00 02 min MIN BENCH 32:21 02 min cross-checking BOS Redmond 37:13 05 min fighting BOS Middleton 37:13 05 min fighting MIN Zanussi 39:42 05 min fighting BOS Kasper 39:42 05 min fighting MIN Shmyr 41:35 02 min roughing BOS Lalonde 41:35 05 min fighting BOS Foster 41:35 02 min roughing MIN Christoff 41:35 05 min fighting MIN Christoff 44:48 02 min hooking BOS O'Connell 49:32 02 min tripping BOS Marcotte 58:52 05 min fighting BOS Lalonde 58:52 05 min fighting MIN Christoff Saves: BOS Vachon 21 MIN Meloche 22 ## END ##

Big Bad NORTH STARS? Posted by VideoGuy 02-20-2005, 12:24 AM In the late 70's, there was an incident where big John Wensink engaged in a victorious scrap with one of the young North Star players. After receiving a game misconduct and while being ushered off the ice, someone from the Minnesota bench made a verbal response to the aggressive Bruin player. Wensink immediately went over to the Minnesota bench and stood there waving his hands high in the air gesturing, waving and challenging anyone to jump onto the ice. Not one North Star player jumped on the ice to meet his challenge. In the early 80's, Minnesota had a very young talented team. However, they were still not known for their physical play, and had never won a game at the Boston Garden. The new North Star coach was the fiery Glen Sonmor. Sonmor knew that if this team were going to make a run in the playoffs, they would have to gain respectability in the league. And what better team to prove their point, but against the Big Bad Bruins. So that night he wanted his players to play more aggressively and not back down from anything or anyone. He reminded them how John Wensink embarrassed them a few years back. But this North Star team had a different make-up. One of the team's leaders in the physical department was rough and tough Jack Carlson, who had gained notoriety as one of the 'Hanson' brothers of the infamous movie 'Slapshot'. Carlson when asked what he would have done on that night when Wensink challenged the Minnesota bench said, "well, if I was there and Sonmor was the coach I would have had to jump on the ice quickly so I could beat my coach onto to the ice." Before the puck was even dropped, Minnesota's Tommy Younghans asked one of the linesmen, Gord Broseker, if he had a chance to work out at the YMCA before the game. Gord said, 'No'. Tommy replied, 'Well, you should have'. Gord asked him? Why? ,and Tommy replied 'You'll find out'. It was only seven seconds into the game before two fights broke out. One fight was between mild mannered and star player, Bobby Smith and the Bruins' Steve Kasper. Bobby Smith was a very talented player, not known for his physical play. But that night, nothing else mattered. And this was only the beginning. To the Bruins' and the TV broadcasters' complete surprise, Minnesota was playing tough and physically . And , of course, Boston was more than happy to live up to their nickname as the Big Bad Bruins. When the game finally ended, a new record was established for most penalty minutes in a regular season game 392 minutes. Dave Newell issued 28 minor penalties, 26 major penalties, 9 ten-minute misconducts and 9 game misconducts. Boston won the game 5-1, extending Minnesota's losing streak at the Garden. Minnesota's record at the Gardens fell to 0-28-7. In his pre-game sermon to his North Star players, Sonmor indicated that by employing their new strategy, that they might not win the game that night but that there would be favorable residual effects for the North Stars. By chance, Minnesota and Boston met in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs. Boston had home ice advantage in a 5 game series, but to everyone's surprise, Minnesota went on to win the first two games at the Boston Gardens and eliminated Boston in three games straight. Glen Sonmor would say that the turning point in their season and in the franchise was the night they stood up to the 'Big Bad Bruins' back on Feb 26 1981. Conversely, the mystique of playing on the smallish Boston Garden ice, was somewhat diminished. =====

Good multimedia mastering software is real pricey. And cleaning up poor quality videos takes a lot of work if a person is trying for DVD quality. I mean, old videos are a real pain in the arse, but when it comes to NHL hockey, some of the greatest are over a 1/3 century old. Sorry I couldn't be more help. BTW, you website looks great!
