Lots of people say this is the greatest fight of all time, but I don't know if it's THAT good. It still is entertaining, and for a while I was unable to decide who would get the edge (at first it was Probie, but for a while I thought it'd be McSorely since he came on fairly strong at the end) until I gave a slight edge to Probert. Great fight, and you have to love that right hand by Probert that almost ended the fight right there.

Definitley a classic....sometimes I think it was just good to see these two duke it out for one last great scrap before they entered the twilight of their careers. Thats what makes it such a great fight.

thanks alot bro...Funny story for ya real quick. I remember that night I believe a Friday night I had a friend over and we played video games all night, but I pressed record on the VCR to make sure I taped the game on ESPN. I watched the game the next day and was I blown away when I saw what to me is the best fight ever....Even as a kid I knew the matchups every night.Been a fight fan since I was like 9 years old!!!

Hey guys, first post here, love this site! This is one of my all time fav fights, watched it a hundred times, the thing I like the most and miss from todays tough guys is the respect between these 2 heavyweights. Probie couldve whacked when he was down but he let him get back up, nobody tried a cheap shot and it looks like Probie patted him on the head and said great fight when the linesman came in, nobody dancing around waving fake titles, just a lot of respect between two of the best of all time! 2 Class acts just doing their job thats not found in the league anymore. Thanks for posting!!

If you ever get a chance, check out the Detroit telecast of that fight, as opposed to the ESPN feed. The Detroit camera angles were a lot better; they missed none of the action. The ESPN camera guys, I don't know what they were thinking with those shots from the bench.

Holy moly this is going back a while, to pre-youtube days.. I used to upload fights for guys to download.

Used to have thousands of fight clips on an old computer of mine, sadly the HD died without me backing them up

I love this bout and show it off all the time. the key word that comes to mind is HEART. no quit in marty mcsorley , and probie . I think this was one of the longest fights of its time. untill Darren langdon , Marty and a few others after that. but this fight will always be a classic to me, as these guys are my favs. Both played the enforcer role to a T .

The thing that gets me with this fight is not only is it exceptionally long - not the longest, that goes to another McSorley fight against Louie Debrusk in 1992 - both guys are throwing pretty openly for the majority of the fight, just standing and trading with very little going on in terms of defensive fighting. Probert even drops McSorley at one point with a cross/uppercut combo, but McSorley gets up and carries on swinging away.

The aforementioned McSorley/Debrusk fight, from 1992:

Wow a blast from the past. I haven't watched this one in years. McSorley had such beautiful hair.
