To be fair, let's give some context to that one since you are doing it with the others. Ellis (who is a goalie) blatantly slashed Brashear's teammate in the ankle while he was fighting someone else. Brashear saw it and did what any good enforcer would do. That deserves props, not ridicule.

Here is the incident if people want to see for themselves...

Brashear qui saute les plombs. - YouTube

If anyone finds something wrong with Brashear going after Ellis in that situation then they have issues with the way real hockey should be played, and should probably find another site because this one isn't what they are looking for.

Easy tiger, "fought" is in quotations because it wasn't a fight and it's a goalie who never had a career penalty before that incident. Cormier ran over him which isn't shown on that clip you posted. Do I blame Brashear there? No. I don't think it qualifies as being "active" when you mug a goalie who's never taking a PIM before that play.

Are you using this fight as an example of him being an "active" tough guy?

It's interesting that Roch is involved in that skirmish as well.

I'm curious, who was Ellis's one career fight against?

He's not active lately and quite frankly I don't know why people feel he has to be. That is not my point nor do I think it even matters how active he is at this age, especially in a league like the LNAH. During the lockout he already killed the idea that these goons would walk through him like some here were saying, the majority of them are sub par compared to the higher leagues. He has nothing left to prove to the LNAH, or anyone else really. Brashear isn't the only one in that league who 'crosses the line' (it is a pure goon league after all, I'm not sure why everyone seems so shocked or offended stuff like this happens), so if someone wants to hold him responsible then that is up to them. For whatever reason, no one has done it yet, which I find astonishing.

All I am doing is giving that fight some context (like you did with the others), since you brought it up like it was a knock against him...fighting a goalie with no career fights sounds pretty awful until you see the whole picture - which was Brashear holding someone responsible for an obvious slash to his teammate's ankle. The goalie deserved it and it doesn't matter if he has never had a penalty before. Why should it?

Anyways, I'll let you continue your fight with solidus, since you two are seemingly arguing different things than me.

My point was that guys keep talking about how active Brashear is in this league, and he's really not that active at all... The Ellis "fight" I'm not ripping him for, I said he did the right thing... But it's a goalie who never had a Penalty in his career before that... That's not exactly qualified as "active" is it? That was my point... And you couldn't really blame Ellis for being pissed, Cormier smoked him without warning. Brashear did the right thing but it hardly makes him active.

He's simply been a disgrace in that league. He jumps guys, suckers guys, and runs from guys. I mean hiding from Parker? Come on.

Who thought non NHL guys would beat him? That's crazy. I don't like him personally but he's one of the toughest in NHL history. Perhaps they questioned his heart? I think that's fair, but never his ability. Guy is one of the all time best.

Guess it depends on what you are expecting from him. He's not in the league to be what he was in the NHL. If people were expecting that then I guess I can see why they would be disappointed.

He's not there to purely fight, or even to fight at all if you get down to it. His team is filled with fighters whose purpose is just that. Also, it's the LNAH, that league is built on suckering, jumping, and other goonery. No point in getting upset about it, it just happens. It is up to the players to police it, and it always has been in that league. No one has held him responsible, and there are other ways to do that besides just squaring up.

As far as why he's seemingly picking his spots, no one knows but Brashear. He's always been 'odd' with his reasoning for when to send a message and when not to.

I'm not going to name names as they know who they are, but rest assured it happened and quite frequently. They didn't question his heart either, they were actually expecting him to not make it out of the league alive. Anyways, different times.
