I hate spammers as much as everyone else, but I don't want someone to have to make garbage posts just to make a real one.

Especially when spammers can just bump old You See Them Brawl threads and say "nice description. good accurate. free NFL jerseys. wish them fighting again."

While we're on the subject, what's the minimum amount of posts needed to become a moderator? Or do I need to get suspended again?

Jkidd told me he suspended me for 9 months last year so I knew what it was like. Kinda like how cops in training have to get tased so they don't tase people all the time. Was I duped?

Are they registering these threads by hand? Does HF have a captcha to register or something like that? Maybe add one to new posts until you get to 10 posts, just to slow the spambots down a bit?

Also, another message board I frequent refuses to let you post hyperlinks unless you get to 25 posts. That would slow them in their tracks real quick, too!

You'd be surprised how many register by hand. After that, they could be bots, but we do have captcha and we even changed it to something commercial-y because it worked better (despite being obvious advertisements). Some then spam by hand, others by bot.

The problem is most don't pay attention, certainly the bots. They just want to get in and post post post, they don't really look them over to see what's happened. We may test this out, but it may not make much of a difference outside of the 1-off human from an English-speaking country.
