Q & A: Craig Coxe
Q & A: Craig Coxe
Remember to check out the videos page. Clipped and up are his two bouts with Probert and his NHL fight with Kocur. Craig was a great guy to talk to, I wish him all the best in continuing his coaching career. |

He seems like a normal person.
He was a unique fighter, more of a gambler than most of the guys we see.......today and yesterday. If I were asking him about fights, I might ask him about a fights with McRae, Baumgartner, and Patterson. I'd also ask him about the one with Kordic. There has been debate over that fight. Some people said that Coxe broke Kordic's nose. If you view that fight casually it appears that Kordic gets the W. Coxe was cut as well. It would be interesting to hear his take on it. I would ask him about fight preparation as well. To me, I find it hard to believe when some fighters say they don't know if they are going to fight. At the very least, they should know that the likelihood of a fight might be greater on a given night. For example, when he fought Probert at Joe Louis it sure looks like they had it all set up. I don't know. If it were me I would sure as heck know who I am playing against and what to expect. Otherwise I'd be unprepared. Perhaps it was spontaneous, but if it wasn't I bet he would say..... I've only seen about a dozen of his fights and each one was for real. I give him credit for actually fighting AND fighting to win. |

It may have been a mistake had you asked him(because Scotty passed away) but i would have been all over him for Scotty 'Psycho' McMichael stories, they were real close friends, Scotty was a terrorizer, Lord rest his soul. I guess it may be a tender spot for Craig seeing that he mentioned he played with Marty McSorley, i would bet that Scotty was the next guy Craig thought about when he referred to "the really tough guys i played with".
