Thanks for a great interview with a player who shows up to work every time!
The difference in opposing teams when Brandon Sugden is on the ice is apparent. I've got a lot of respect for what he does and what he's accomplished. I'd like to see him get a chance in the big show sometime soon. |

I've always had a fascination with Brandon Sugden since his epic feud with McMorrow that was talked about so much on here. I really wish we could get his games out here in Seattle because I really want to watch the baddest mother****er playing hockey today
So cool to hear from the man himself. I love this website, you guys keep getting interviews with players and personalities I'm really interested in hearing from and knowing more about.

Good interview, but Sudgen comes off like a jackass.....
"George Laraque, George Laraque, George Laraque?" Is he calling out BGL here on HF?? Great. I hope he winds up like Brantt Mhyers. The guy gets in fights off the ice and then talks them up here.....then he makes comments about posters....sounds like any old dude you talk to here...and then he says he's a 'professional athelete'.... If he fancies himself a 'professional' he'd better start acting like one off the ice. |

But his barfights are something he should probably not discuss so openly. It sounded like he was proud of laying out a bunch of guys in bars. I'm not too keen on that. |

I remember Brashear talking about a street incident in Montreal one time, I think it is better left for private. |

Exactly. We all know about his exploits. He didn't need to talk them up. Plus, the whole "George Laraque, George Laraque, George Laraque" think was kinda dumb. I understand he wants to make a name for himself, but he has not played at the NHL level and he's already calling out Laraque. That makes for good theatre, but he's probably never gonna face Laraque....he's gotta make it first. |

ewen, I think you're reading into it a bit much. As for the bar thing, he was just talking straight about how it used it be, and because it's all past tense since he's been clean for some time, I think there's no reason to sugar coat it.
As for the Laraque thing, it's just an answer to the question. I asked who he'd want to take on, make his mark against. He considers Laraque the best and wants to take on the champ, nothing more to it. He didn't duck the question or give some generic answer, can't ask for much more than that IMO. |

Great Interview
This was a great interview. I have talked with Sugden a few times when he was a scratch, and he seems to be a class act. He may have had his problems in the past, but he is great with the fans in Syracuse.
Last year I was sitting right behind the penelty boxes for a Sugden/Mcmorrow throw down, and it was anything but a throw down. It was all Mcmorrow hugging and scratching. When Sugar came to the box, his face was covered in cat scratchs. |
