John Scott Drops Shawn Thornton, Blues and Jackets Rivalry Ramping Up

While the Sabres and Bruins were supposed to steal the show on Thursday night, it was the ever-growing rivalry between the Blues and Jackets that continues to fester.

That doesn't mean that things didn't get heated in Boston. John Scott and Shawn Thornton found each other early in the first period, with Scott landing a big right as Thornton lost his balance and was on his way down. Thornton didn't return to the game after serving his penalty.

Scott and Thornton exchanged words on-ice and through the media for a while now, but Scott had nothing but concern for Thornton post-game:
"I was asking our trainers how he's doing. You never want to hurt somebody, I was kind of concerned after the first period; we never saw him again," Scott said. "I still don't know how he's doing, hopefully he's doing well. You hate to see someone leave the game like that."

The Boston Herald reports Thornton is being evaluated and reminds the fans you can replace an enforcer, but not a Bruin. It's unlikely he'll play tomorrow as the Bruins have just recalled Jamie Tardiff on an emergency basis. If Tardiff plays it will be his first NHL game.
