I'm still convinced that a lock-out will be the worst scenario. The fan base for the NHL is bad enough, I'd like to see it after a year off. I find it comparable to what happened with baseball in Canada with the MLB strike. The Expos were in first and the Blue Jays had just won 2 World Series. Now look at the markets in Canada, Montreal is a baseball ghost town and the Blue Jays are at around half-capacity, when I remember it was hard to get a ticket back in the day.

The same WILL happen with small market teams in the states. Bye bye Pittsburgh, Carolina, etc.

BTW, is Troy Shockley a member on this site and if so, what does he go by?

Thanks for the props....He goes by AvsFan

And I agree. It's going to happen and it's going to hurt an already wounded league badly.

Anybody think we will actually be able to see a full season next year?

the arguments put forward are true enough. reasons for both having a season or not having a season can be raised with equal logic. in my 45 years of hugging my beloved les canadiens i have become firm in my belief that hockey players are different from players in other sports.

they will realize that if the owners can't police themselves they will need to do it. not out of any love for the owners but because of sustenance. if they don't straighten it out they will not get paid. simple as that.

it really is to laugh to look at some of the management people like bob clarke of philly. i remember he gave a speech to the players on philadelphia flyers years ago where he condemned the owners as a group. he did manage to add that they were very lucky to have a man like ed snyder as an owner. when in reality it's guys like snyder and others who were willing to spend money that other teams couldn't. he could......they couldn't. unfortunately they tried on occasion but usually with the team folding. u cannot spend what ya ain't got!

we will c but i tell ya, if the players do not think there will be a season it will make the world cup that much more meaningful. can hardly wait.

anyway.....the league could afford lose a few weak sisters to improve the on-ice product.
