John Kordic isnt around to defend himself here, Coxe still ended up down on his knees in that fight and leaking, so he can deny Kordic hit hard all day long, I also know that he never went near John again after that fight, both those facts tell me something.

Nice interview, nice guy but I'd take Kordic if I had a choice in just about every category, player or fighter.

If guys want to talk bad about each other, I'd be curious to know what Kordic would have said about Coxe, I'm sure it wouldnt have been much.

I did challenge Coxe about having been cut pretty good. His response, "Where did he go, and where did I go?" Now, I suppose we'll never know why Kordic went to the dressing room. I do know this: Coxe gives his due to hard punchers. See his comments on Kocur, and he's plain about not wanting to trade 'em with Kocur because, "He hits so goddamn hard. He ends guys careers".

Sitting across from him, I didn't take it that he was talking bad about John Kordic at all. It struck me how he was speaking in the present tense: "He ain't going to hurt you", "he throws these wee rabbit punches", etc. He spoke that way about Kocur as well, present tense.

The point is, as a matter of strategy going into a fight with Kocur or Kordic, Coxe's mindset was 180 degrees opposite. Take 'em to give 'em with Kordic, get it the hell over with ASAP with Kocur.

The only guy I took it he was speaking ill of in the entire interview was Neil Sheehy.

Great interview, nice work Mike, thanks a lot! Great to see how open and honest he was too - I was laughing about the comments he had about Sheehy. I think most older Flames fans remember him the same way too.

The only thing I remember about Coxe as a Canuck was the beating he took from Crowder - but, I do remember he scored the first Sharks goal against the Canucks in 1991 - that must have felt good for him. He sure had his moments though, I wish I had been old enough to watch/enjoy that huge game against the Wings....

Yeah Semenko wrote about what a dick that Sheehy was in his book and that basically Fotiu saved Sheehy a beating by grabbing Semenko! Semenko wanted Sheehy bad and said 20,000 fans think that Fotiu and I am ready to go and of course it will never happen because we are such good friends and that Nicky saved that punk Sheehy's ass!

Great interview! LOVE that you added the video of the Kordic question. Coxe looks and sounds like a high school gym teacher and not some guy who could knock your clock off. He seems like a really great guy.

I had the honor of watching Coxe play in Cincinnati back in the early 1990s.
