Paul Bissonnette didn’t take long to make an impact in the UK.

The Phoenix Coyotes tough guy signed a deal with Cardiff Devils in the Elite League and despite not throwing down during his first five games he has made an impact with his gloves on.

The 6'3" 220lb defenseman has broken out offensively on the Devils’ blueline and in two games over the weekend recorded eight points, highlighted by a goal and four assists in a 9-1 road win over Dundee Stars.

Bissonnette has five goals and eight assists for 13 points on the season to help Cardiff to third place in the standings.

Good stuff to see, the standard of play isn't that high as evidenced by the numbers being put up, but UK fans love to see players like Bisonette and Tom Sestito coming over here.

I know 'Euro' hockey takes some hammer on here from time to time, but the UK is the exception - fans are very much aligned with the North American way of thinking about how the game should be played.

Open question to all: Any chance Biz stays in the UK when the NHL resumes? It seems he's having some success there. I'm sure it beats being scratched in the NHL on a team that is about as soft as they come.

Money will likley be an issue. UK clubs simply can't compete with the NHL in terms of payroll..
