Olympics gets rid of wrestling

Apparently both sides are to meet about how they can avoid wrestling being booted out of the Olympics...

It seems this will not fully materialize, hopefully it doesn't.

I've seen both and I can't understand how modern penthatlon made it over wrestling, that is utter BS!

I really hope they will somehow manage to get the sport back without missing any Olympics, it is one of the few sports which has been in the Games since ancient times. ****ing IOC!

A lot of people have been going about dressage for years but it is probably one of the most skilful events of the Olympics and the competitors probably put in more time training than any other event.

But regardless of that, dressage is part of the equestrian program so in itself wouldn't come out since their are two other disciplines in the group.

Wrestling and Modern Pentathlon should both be retained and I can't believe they voted in golf.

The two sports to me that should come out are football and basketball. Those and golf shouldn't really be in the Olympics and are sports where people give more of a **** about other events in the sport than the Olympics.

Just incredibly stupid if they go ahead with this. Get rid of the non-athletic sports like sailing, equestrian, archery and rifle shooting or whatever the **** it's called. Those are skills not sports.

As a former shot-putter I have discovered that none of the Olympic sports I want to see get network coverage anyway. Think I watched the men put on-line and the women at 1:00 in the morning. Do not even remember seeing wrestling or men's lifting this summer.

Very sad, but I would guess that ratings drive the call.

Sailing is most definitely a sport those guys have to be real fit

I think to this point bball and soccer should be higher candidates for removal because of the amount of money in domestic leagues and the olympics are just another competition with not much meaning. The ultimate peak for Wrestlers is Olympic Gold whereas the ultimate peak for Soccer or BBall is definitely not the olympics.

you should probably take a long, hard look in the mirror....

i planned my vacation time around watching jordon burroughs win the gold this past summer. i also watch ncaa wrestling on tv though, so i understand people arent as enthused about the sport as i am. regardless, with the history wrestling has in the games and the undeniable athletic skill and courage shown in the sport, it never should have even been considered for the chopping block. i havent seen a single opinion anywhere supporting this decision.

Countries have to outright BRIBE the IOC to get the games.

Well you know as a former wrestler myself, just in college. It wasn't a major college, D3, D4 really. Actually it was Juco. Not even, it was a league. It's just a group of guys that got together. It was flag football, I was 10, 11 maybe. And it wasn't football, it was kickball. I used go with my dad. Well I went alone he dropped me off. My parents were divorced, my mom worked three jobs. I get sad when I see parents hugging their kids but enough about me, i definitely believe they should keep wrestling in.
