Racism has been a problem in Poland and the Ukraine for a while. Some of the problems are coming at team practices with black players. Just sort of seeking out anyone who isnt white and chanting racist things. Its pretty stupid but something that happens when you get to places where there is generally only one race.

The racism issue is ongoing, it was stoked yesterday by members of the Dutch team getting monkey chants during an open training session in Krakow..

The only odd one there for me is Jermaine Jones that played for the senior German team in a couple of friendly matches and now plays for another national team but the rules from FIFA changed a couple of years ago that allows for that if the player didn't play in an official capacity. And they probably contacted that Irish youngster due to him having British ancestry and I guess dual citizenship, which allows him to register as a British player and play in the Great Britain team. But you shouldn't compare those because rules for the Olympics differ from those from FIFA regarding nationality issues. Did no one considered fielding an Ireland team, like in Rugby? I've always found it peculiar they would not expand that concept into other sports. Anyway, back to the Euro: Russia looked better than I expected even after their good qualifying run. they could go pretty far playing that way

Actually got to see a few minutes of Greece/Poland over lunch yesterday.
Between the horrid reffing and over the top theatrics by the players, it's no wonder I find cup stacking more compelling to watch.

I've never been a fan of soccer... but the past few years I find myself more and more enthralled by it... I watched both games yesterday and the danes/nederlands today... would have watched germany/portugal but... things got in the way... but I have to say I enjoy it. God I never thought I'd say that. It's grown on me.

I thought Robben was just as bad, he had plenty of chances to score or set up a goal and just did very poorly. The Germany result screwed them over a bit. They would have loved a draw between Portugal and Germany, but damn Gomez finally figured out how to score.
