If Cotto gets the nod, I definitely see the fight at 150, or 151. Cotto isn't like most other fighters Manny gets, in that Cotto has a lot of "pull" himself when it comes to making demands or setting limits in fight negotiations. I see it being 150 or 151 based on their history. I wonder then, what happens to either's title if they lose? Does Manny get stripped of his alphabet 147 lb title? Or does Cotto release his 154? I'm sure those will be negotiating points, but it's something worth noting.
On the topic of alphabet titles, Sergio Martinez has had enough of the WBC and their bull****. The worlds best 160lb fighter has called it a day and released the WBC "diamond" belt and will exclusively defend the 160lb RING magazine title... which is really the only title that truly means something in these days of regular champs, diamond champs, super champs, aluminum champs and whatever other metals they use. I love it from Sergio. No more bending and bitching with the WBC to get HIS title back, it's now time to start defending the one belt that doesn't require him to pay astronomical sanctioning fees to be toyed with. This is a HUGE step in the right direction for getting rid of these alphabet organizations. Unfortunately, fighters want titles, and so do promoters... which means it's probably not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things, but only because I doubt anyone else follows suit in Sergio's foot steps. Last item, ESPN Friday Night Fights returns tonight! ****ing aye is that awesome! The main event: Dyah Davis (20-2, 9 KOs) vs. Alfonso Lopez (22-1, 17 KOs) - 10 rounds, super middleweights Prospect watch fight: Steve Martinez (11-0, 9 KOs) vs. Denis Douglin (13-1, 8 KOs) - 8 rounds, junior middleweights Veteran on the rebuild path: Dannie Williams (20-1, 16 KOs) vs. Fernando Trejo (33-17, 19 KOs) -8 rounds, lightweights

Amir Khan alleges "interference" in his fight against Lamont Peterson last month, with an unknown person getting into the ear of the fight supervisor, and the judges:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/16435696.stm Khan got beat up, he needs to let this go now. |

Jmm 4 will be the same as the first 3, but will be tougher to make because Jmm does not want to fight PAC in Vegas. He doesn't feel he can get a fair dec. Peterson has a very good shot at the fight if he wants to sign with Top Rank because h is a hot name. I think Bradley is the toughest competition abd signed with Top Rank for this fight. Mayweather's two opponents are either Canelo or Guerarro. Both Mexican for the May 5th date.

Huge, very well done article by Dan Rafael at ESPN on Bob Arum being THE lone issue with the Pac/Mayweather fight not being made. He simply doesn't want to make the fight, and that is good enough for Bob Arum to not make it.
This it he telling spot that I couldn't have agreed more with: Quote:
I think that's what it boils down to with Bob Arum not wanting to cash out Manny, as mentioned above. As far as Mayweather and his opponents: vs. Canelo... Saul is way too raw to be in the ring with Mayweather, and Floyd will tear him apart. Every time I watch Canelo I see him try and incorporate more and more boxing skills into his fights, which is great. But, if you're confused on whether to go to a half shell defense or put up the ear muffs - that's hesitation and hesitation in the ring is a death wish. I don't know if Floyd will stop him, but, I can see him busting the **** out Canelo on his way to a UD. It is the first major step though in getting Canelo to the PPV ranks and being a premier PPV draw, so I can see this. vs. Guerrero... I'm a Robert Guerrero fan. His back story and his skills are awesome. But, he gets hit a lot, cuts easily, and will be moving up in weight again to fight Floyd which will likely negate more of his speed. I don't see it being a good night for Robert. Floyd's lead right will tear him up, and when Guerrero tries to throw that lead left hook he really likes, Floyd will be under neath it already back up and popping him with a counter hook or counter right.

Manny came out today and said he wants Mayweather next and he will press Arum to make the fight happen. He said testing will not be an issue and even said he is willing to take a little less of a cut.
Arum is going to counter about the fight not being able to be promoted properly witht he time and so on. ITs BS. Mayweather wants the fight, Manny wants the fight. Let's get it on. The fight does not need a lot of promoting. The fight has been promoted for almost 3 years. It does not even need a big arena. The money is with the PPV. They can jack the price of the tickets at the gate for huge amounts of money. Closed circuit and PPV domestically and internationally is where the money is.

The funny thing is that Arum has come out and said that he isn't looking to have Manny fight in May because of the nasty gash he suffered against JMM, that is requiring plastic surgery and he'll need 6+ months to let it heal. Furthermore, he wasn't considering Mayweather AT ALL and just the 4 guys laid out earlier.
Now, we have Manny publicly saying **** that garbage I want to fight in May against Floyd. So... now we are back to the same stumbling block as always, Bob Arum getting what Bob Arum wants. Naturally, Arum should have consulted Manny before running his mouth to national media that he will not consider or even entertain the thought BECAUSE Manny needs and wants until after May to recover. Now, he looks like an even bigger piece of **** lying cock sucker. This fight will likely not happen until Bob Arum is dead, that's the only hope I'm seeing out of all of this.

I read several articles where they quoted Arum saying Manny may fight in May when afloyd was suppose to go to jail. Now that he is not all these excuses come back out. Arum is scum.

Megafight appears to be set (per Boxingscene):
Lucian Bute vs. Carl Froch in Montreal on April 14th, with a rematch (if desired by the loser) on August 4th. Andre Ward isn't interested or ready for Bute yet, so Super Six runner up, Carl Froch, steps right in. Besides his past brash reputation, it's hard not to like Carl Froch. The guy fights the best in the division, wherever it takes him, and is humble in defeat.

The risk is that Bute is going to take of Froch which is no walk in the park. Its a risky fight and I applaud Bute for it. Ward is recognized as the legit 168 lb champion and top 5 p4p right now.

Mayweather continues his assault on Manny. Twitter....
"Manny Pacquiao I am calling you out. Let's fight on May 5th and give the world what they want to see. My jail sentence was pushed backed because the date was locked in. Step up punk," Mayweather wrote.
