I figured you had some experience with the subject. Why did you stop?

I haven't gotten all the parts yet, but I started with the copper shielding. Copper is expensive so I dropped a dime on the tape but it was really easy to work with. Of course I have all these tiny bastard cuts on my fingers now.

Some pics of phase 1:

You can see how poorly the old soldering was. First of all, the factory lumps all the wires into one blob, and a big one at that, so I couldn't even clean it up when I wired in new pickups this year. Gonna make sure it's done a lot neater this time.

Excited to get the rest of the parts tomorrow so I can get this fukker hooked back up and driving like a champ!!

Wired everything up on Monday. It was easy enough except for the MASSIVE buzz I got when I plugged it in. HF's resident guitar tech Kam (who knew??) suggested switching the wires to the output jack and it silenced all of it. All the guitar buzz is gone and it sounds awesome.

Some pics:

As you can see below, some of the new solder joints ended up being really sh!tty so I went out and bought a better iron and thicker solder and melted all that sh!t down.

Looks good, much cleaner looking. I like that you used solid wire where you could, A+ for that.

I don't have pics with me now, but I play the following, and am left-handed:

Electric - Epiphone Dot, natural. Right handed, switched the nut
Acoustic - Takamine GS330, cedar top
Bass - Fender Standard Jazz (Mexican made, sea foam green metallic)and a vintage Vantage Bass (Blue)
Drums - ole beat-up Pearl kit, 8 pieces
Mandolin - an old brand I have never heard of that a musician friend set up leftie for me.

I have an old Fostex 4-track tape recorder that I like to lay stuff down on.

How do you like the Takamine? I want to get a 12-string acoustic next year, and was playing a Takamine, natural top, at the store that sounded amazing.

BTW - I lied, I have an AN10. (Not sure why I thought it was a G-series) I love it! Jerry Garcia played Takamine's when he did a lot of his acoustic work with Grisman and the Dead.

It is very resonant and bassey. Nice n' loud. Of course, with no finish you have to be very careful about scratches, but I think it allows a truer sound. There is no pick guard either, but it is really sharp looking.

These pics aren't mine, but this is what it looks like.

Sorry man I just saw your post. That's a beaut! It sounds loud because the strings are threaded through the end of the bridge instead of pinned down from inside the guitar and threaded through the top. From what I understand this makes the guitar louder.

i have nowhere else to post this, so i figured i'd put it in the thread where i already talked about being a drummer.

a few days ago, i received the craziest text i've ever received:

i'm not going to be able to pull it off, but it's a pretty cool thing for me to save on my phone. hahahaha.

bought a new kit today, prepping for a tour late this year. it's a Tama Starclassic Performer from the ... 90's? earl 00's? i bought it at a pawn shop for well below value, but i'm still trying to find out more about it.

24 inch bass drum
10, 12, 14 rack toms
16 and 18 (!!) inch floor toms
14 inch snare

gotta track down some hardware, unfortunately, but it was a tough deal to pass up.

Whattttt. How come you can't do it? Don't think you're good enough to do it? And what's the deal with your own tour?

i'm not good enough. it's that simple. i fancy myself as a realist and i just couldn't be ready in time. i haven't even played drums in a real capacity in 3 years. just not ready for that at all. i honestly think that in my "prime", i could have, but it's been a while.

this other tour is kind of a work in progress sort of thing. i don't even know how much i can say about it, honestly, as it has some pretty established people involved and i don't want to step on anyone's toes. i guess a hockey site wouldn't exactly be world news, but better safe than sorry. hahaha.

it's got potential though, that's for sure. a bit more metal-ly then i would go searchin' for, but i kind of fell into it and i hope i can make it work. i have a good feeling about it. here's a super cryptic teaser, but that's about all i can give up now. hahahaha. that's the band.
