I'll be heading to the Manson-Slayer concert tomorrow night at the X. I'll let you guys know how that concert is. Only reason I'm going is for Slayer, I could care less about Mansons' talentless ass.

I hate Manson, and im not a huge Slayer fan but Slayer definetly has one of the better live shows ive seen.

Guys come together, and it's like your family out there ... That's what it's all about. If you mess with one of our guys, you're going to mess with five of them. That's just the way it's going to go." |

O.A.R. at the Tweeter center was awesome. An awesome show that they kicked off with 'The Wanderer' which surprised me. all high school and college kids, lots of beer, girls with little clothing, and good opening acts (augustana, and steven kellogg and the sixers). They played a good mix of new and old songs, with plenty of jamming and tight improv, which they do best.

The first time I saw them must have been 6 or 7 years ago. I was visiting my sister for little sibs at Bowling Green and we went. Then I saw them a few years ago at the tower city ampitheater. That was the best because it was semi-outside. So I guess the venue makes the show because the one at Cleveland St. wasnt nearly as fun.

Ozzfest July 28th
Coors Amphitheatre; Englewood, Colorado Lawn Section (the free tickets) If you like screamo heavy metal then this was a good concert/festival. Otherwise it was really f*cking annoying. Ozzy was only on for like an hour, and he's definately lost it over the years, his new songs are kind of sellout-ish to me, and thats almost all he played, not a whole lot of classic Ozzy. Although, Zakk Wylde is so damn amazing on guitar. If anything go for that, but if you want to miss all the other crap, then show up like 8 hours after the festival starts, cause thats when Ozzy gets on. The Fray August 6th Red Rocks Amphitheatre; Denver, Colorado 44th Row up (got these for free too) If anyone has ever been to Red Rocks, then i dont need to tell you that place is in a league of its own. Its such a great atmosphere and everything is so huge and beautiful, theres not a bad seat in the house. Its by far and away the best venue ive ever been to. That being said, The Fray was great. You wouldnt think it by listening to their music, but they put on a very good concert. They had energy, the crowd got into it, and they sound better live than in the studio. Lots of entertaining parts of the concert. Maybe a little too much in between song banter, but that doesnt ruin a thing, at some times it makes the show more fun. They interact with the crowd very well.

I tried to redeem my tickets for the Camden NJ show on 8/23, but with tens of thousands logging on at once to do the same thing i didn't get sh!t. But looking back now I'm kind of glad I didn't get tickets because I'm not that into it at the moment.

John Mayer
Tweeter Center - Camden, NJ 7/20/07 13th row from stage on the right hand side Set List: Bigger Than My Body No Such Thing Belief I Don't Trust Myself (With Loving You) Good Love is On the Way Covered in Rain Waiting on the World to Change I Don't Need No Doctor Clarity Vultures Why Georgia Gravity Encore: 3x5 (acoustic) Who Did You Think I Was (solo) Crossroads I went with my cousin after her friend bailed on her to go out with her boyfriend or something like that. I wasn't really that excited because Mayer isn't really my type of music but he put on one hell of a show. His guitar playing reminded me of Eric Clapton and the crowd was going nuts the whole time. Great show.

August 16th, 2007 PNC Bank Arts Center, Holmdel NJ Seats: Lawn (the free tickets) I like Heavy Metal/Metalcore with screaming vocals, not to be confused with screamo garbage angsty little boys in girls pants listen to. Ozzfest once again was the place for some of the heaviest ****in metal on the planet all day long, as we arrived around 11 AM to PNC. Right away we found out that it wasn't "free" as each car shelled out $25 bucks to park, a fee that did not exist when I went to Gigantour last summer there. So after our hike from the far parking lot, and a nice long line to get in, we went straight to the Jager stage to begin the thrashing. Ankla, Cthonic (the pride of Taiwan apparently), and In This Moment all put on short, but entertaining sets to get things going. Daath brought their brutality to the stage next, followed by the always entertaining 3 Inches of Blood with Halford-esque vocals about warlocks and **** that I find just plain cool. It was hot as balls out on the blacktop so we went for a waterbreak, skipping the Showdown and their Christ Crusade, and Nile's death metal salute to ancient Egypt. We came back for DevilDriver, whos set was nothing short of intense, really getting the pits going for the first time all day, a trend that would continue to build as the night went on. Behemoth was next, all the way from Poland but I missed being on the floor for there set while waiting in line to meet LoG, I could still hear and kinda see them, cool band, hope they come around again. The boys in Lamb of God were all totally cool, and confirmed they are touring with Killswitch Engage this winter, to make the greatest concert ever. We got out of the line just in time to get back for Hatebreed, the headliners on the Jager stage. Brutal as always, sickest pits so far of the day, a few guys got bloodied, I got whacked by some fatasses' forearm upside the head, played all the essential songs and even got us the first (and only from what I saw) titties of the day. After Hatebreed kicked our asses, we went to the lawn, as Black Tide was already on the main stage, I didnt hear much of them, but I guess they were good for 18 year olds. I got some much needest rest during Lordi, who brought their Soft Euro version of GWAR stateside, cool pyro and stuff, couldnt really see the costumes without a telescope from where I was, and with only 1 album of material I had heard it all before. So after Lordi, Static-X took the stage to prove they still exist, and put on a pretty good set actually. The crowd was much more into them than Lordi and it made for a solid 45 minutes. Finally it was time for LoG's Pure American Metal and like always they kicked ass. Crazy pits, on the hill, in the dark, half the people in them were ****faced, hillarity ensued. Some nasty hits, a couple guys got dragged out by security, awesome circle pit towards the end of the set. Played more Sacrament songs than last time I saw them, but didnt drop classics like Ruin and Black Label from the setlist. Finally the Ozzman Cometh, as 240 year old Ozzy Osbourne took the stage with axeman Zack Wylde no less. Despite not being able to hit a high note to save his life, Ozzy still entertained, playing most of the classics, Mama I'm Comin Home, Suicide Solution, The Road to Nowhere, Paranoid, War Pigs etc.. only one song off the new album which kinda suprised me, and it wasn't I Don't Wanna Stop either Wylde got probably a 10 minute solo where he played behind his head and with his teeth at points, absolutely incredible guitarist Ozzy finshed off with Crazy Train, ending a long day at Ozzfest. The next day we found out that 2 people actually died while they were there, a lethal mix of coke, weed and alcohol, and over 80 were arrested for underage drinking, possession, a few fights etc... Now That's Metal. Top 3 things about Ozzfest: 1.Lamb Of God 2.Hatebreed 3.Free!/Seeing Ozzy Live Worst 3 things: 1.The prices of parking and concessions (and no water stations like Family Values, just garbage jersey tap water at the fountains) 2.Those goddamn bootleg T-Shirt hawkers all over the parking lot, and even at the rest area 10 miles up the road! 3.The Hustler girls: good god, skank-a-rama up on the stage and that annoying asshole with the megaphone. |
