(CNN) -- One day, Urooj Khan jumped for joy after scoring a $1 million winner on an Illinois lottery scratch ticket.
The next month, he was dead.....

Saw this recently...first thought was the wife did it for the life insurance. He was going to do the smart thing and pay off the mortgage and invest it in his business instead of taking her on a vacation. Now she can go on vacation with the insurance money!

Too bad. If the story is accurate, the guy was a level headed immigrant achieving the American dream.... this is really no big shock though. You see a lot of large lottery winners with big problems after instant wealth.

He would have to wait a few weeks to collect his actual winnings, which amounted after taxes to about $425,000. According to CNN affiliate WGN, that check was issued July 19, but Khan never got to spend it.
So he never got to touch his money. That's terrible. If it wasn't his ex wife someone must have been extremely jealous of his new fortune. I never heard of a $30 lottery ticket. Seems a lot to gamble for such little chance. But "hey, you never know."

I'd say winning $1 million on a scratch ticket is the best luck ever.

It's a shame that he didn't get to blow some of his newfound wealth on hindu hookers and nose candy before checking out.

Man, and I thought I had bad luck when I didn't win anything with the two free scratch tickets I got for 'lottery night' at a hockey game last weekend.
