Will the Gavle Goat survive this year?
Ive followed this one for the past few Christmases.. every year since the mid-60s in a Swedish town called Gavle, a large goat is constructed of straw and put in the main square. Its become something of a tradition for the goat to end up vandalised in some form, often by setting it alight. The schemes to acheive this, and the measures to try and stop it, often with only limited success, have increased step-by-step over the years..

Pretty interesting! Sounds like a badass game of capture the flag. Like gfhomodykelol said, I wish the U.S. had a tradition like this.

Slightly after Christmas I know, but I just remembered about the Goat for some reason so I checked how it did this year. It got burnt down again..

It seems people are obsessed with the goat's destruction. Reading the timeline on wiki about different ways it's been burned or destroyed I'm perplexed about how much time Gavle spend planning this tradition. A helicopter?! c'mon!
