Stealing Road Signs

I used to love stealing stuff off the street with my friends in high school. We drove down to the PA/Delaware border with our friend to take a street sign with his last name on it. I also snagged a street sign with my girlfriend's name on it in 9th grade. This development near me has first names for a lot of the streets, so I took Ashley Dr. She wasn't as impressed as I thought she'd be.

Another night, we were driving around in my friend's car smoking a blunt and came across a toppled intersection sign with two street signs on the top. It looked like someone had just crashed into it and took off. There were pieces of metal and glass still on the ground, and the whole pole over this sign had been knocked over. So we went back and got our buddy's truck and threw it in the bed. He kept it in his garage for a while, and his parents kept telling us to get it out of there. Unfortunately, there's no way to just throw out a street sign. So when another one of our friends went on vacation with his family, we took the sign and a post-digger to his house and erected that f'ing thing in his backyard so his folks knew they were at the corner of Romansville & West Chester. It was pretty impressive.

We also used to drive around neighborhoods that we knew had a lot of kids looking for those stupid plastic turtles with the flags that say SLOW DOWN. Rightfully, we laid claim to them as well.

We'd just take stop signs whenever they were knocked down to shoot at...

Around here they dont bother taking them down , they just shoot then full of holes , granted they are always on back roads , but shooting up stop signs is just stupid , taking them down is one of the most dangerious and stupid acts anyone can do ..

My parents always say to me that taking down any street sign or even shooting stop signs is illegal and can lead to an arrest and a trip to jail for larceny/destruction of property. I never saw anybody doing such antic since I was nine.

I agree. Taking down signs is just plain dangerous. I don't get the thrill of stealing signs.

We used to switch the signs so people would get lost and aim peoples automatic sprinklers straight into the road. Those were the days...

This happens a lot not surprising in Fucking, Austria. I believe this also happened in Hell, Norway.

US 666 in the US was changed to a different number for the same reason.

We knew that taking down stops signs would be highly dangerous to other drivers. That's a lot different than taking a street sign with someone's name on it. That line was drawn early.

You're an idiot. We weren't looking for kids -- we were kids ourselves by the way. But we knew any neighborhood with a lot of kids would have those stupid turtles.

I don't know any 5 year olds who know how to use tools or have the strength to wiggle those signs loose or carry intersection poles, so I think you're setting your bar too high.
