R.I.P. Thread

I wanted to make a thread dedicated to all of the people who you have lost.

Just today, my grandfather, 89, passed away. Before he was in the state of being helpless, he said that he didnt want to be kept alive by machines or be a "vegetable". We made the decision to take away his medications and breathing tubes and just let him rest peacefully. I love you and you will be missed greatly.

R.I.P. Grandpa.

Sorry to hear that Shanny. I would have followed his wishes as well, very tough decision to actually make though, as I cant imagine how hard it would be.

Sorry for your loss Shanny, I went through the same situation with my mother and stayed in the room after the machine was turned off for 7 hours until she passed, its a really fukked up feeling helplessly watching the person who gave birth to you expire, so you're not alone.....

My younger sister went in a car accident not long after......

Those two have always stung the most but like Corpse I have lost too many friends to mention.

Sorry for your loss....Comfort yourself in what seems like a life he lived well.

Both my paternal grandparents died in their 60's from cancer. I had always been lucky in that I never lost any close friends, until May, when a good friend of mine committed suicide. I miss him, but I feel anguish for the wife and young son he left behind.

Granfather dad's side - passed away in 2005 at 77 yrs old after a long battle with colon cancer. He is probably the greatest influence in my life so far, as I spent so much time with him during the 16 glorious years he was in my life. He died the way he lived - stubbornly. I was in the room with only my older cousin as he left us. Even though I was very close with my him, I accepted his death very quickly and kept in good spirits. RIP and remember, get your colon checked often. Keep ya ass clean.

Grandfather mom's side - passed away also in 2005 at 77 yrs old. he had emphysema and conutined smoking even as he was on oxygen. I didnt have nearly the same connection with him as I did my dad's father, which meant his death hit me much harder as I felt like I hardly knew him. RIP

Grandmother mom's side - died at 57 in 1988 before I was born. Hit by a car and ultimately killed by the hospital as they moved her out of ICU against my granddad's wishes. The doctors told him the insurance wouldn't cover further ICU care, which didn't matter to my granddad. He sued the hospital after she died and won. RIP

Uncle Steve - 1997, my dad's oldest brother, one of the most immature and funny guys you could ever be blessed to know. He was about 41 or so and "fell" down his basement stairs one night. Suffered a broken neck, fractured skull, and a ruptured knee. Died in the hospital in the early ours of the morning. There was a minor investigation, as he and my aunt were suppopsedly in a domestic dispute, but in the end it was passed off as an accident. My dad and his dad still maintain my aunt pushed him, but we'll never know. RIP.
