question for parents

What I see in college scares me about what our future adults will be like. Just last weekend one of my classmates died of an alcohol overdose. I thought he was a good kid. Anyways, parents ought be concerned about what they're children are doing, no matter if they think their children would never get involved in illegal actvity. I was sadened by the classmastes death, others were shocked, didn't know what to say. A parent should never have to bury their child because of drugs.

It's very sad, but college kids are adults for the most part. They have to learn to live with the consequences of what they do, especially with drugs/booze. It sucks, but there's not a lot you can do besides make them aware of the stupidity of it, and where to go if they ever need help dealing with these issues. There's so much stuff out there to help with addiction now-a-days, especially with the raised awareness recently, that there is always always help nearby.

All you can really do is make them aware of the dangers and consequences of whats out there and hope they make the right decisions. I'm concerned about one of my nieces because she has the mentality that she will do something to get attention or to fit in and she has horrible judgement. I know she smokes pot and drinks but I'm more concerned about her driving ****ed up or getting in a car with someone that's ****ed up and the reason I have that I'm concern is because I know she's stupid enough to do it.
