To each his own! It's none of my business what anyone else does until it affects me. Smash says he doesn't drink and drive, so whatever! That being said, if you drink like he says he does.... you are an alcoholic. You may be a functioning alcoholic, but you are an alcoholic nonetheless.

EDIT: Again, what he or anyone else does is their business. I just found it a humorous, somewhat ironic role reversal with a newly sober TO being the voice of reason!

I never really drank a lot in general, and it's even less now that I'm getting older. I CAN'T drink like I did in my 20's , even if I wanted to. We had a family holiday gathering at the house last night. My brother brought some apple pie moonshine he got form a guy who knows a guy in Virginia. Anyway, that stuff packs a punch. I felt like **** today. I guess I have morphed into quite a lightweight.

Knuckler's being weird tonight.

TO is right, smash is an alcoholic. None of my business what he does but if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck...then smashem is drunk again.

Heading out to Ephrata to a Xmas eve party with my cousin and her roommate at their house. We'll see if I make it home for Xmas morning.

Well what's the definition of an "alcoholic"?

If you work all week and you consistently drink on the weekends are you an alcoholic? Or is it the sheer amount that you're drinking?

I'd say if you drink multiple times during the week (In excess) and it effects your life outside of drinking then that's a problem...or just drinking till you blackout is a problem obviously...

I mean if drinking on the weekends makes you a "functioning alcoholic" then there are an endless amount of people that would fit that criteria...are they all alcoholics?

I suppose drinking in a social atmosphere opposed too by yourself factors in here as well no?

Not judging anyone's opinion, just genuinely curious.

To me, the biggest thing is whether or not you are able to scale it back or not drink when you shouldn't. Weekend drinkers aren't alcoholics unless they feel they HAVE to drink on the weekend. Addiction isn't an act, it's a mindset.

Dude no one said people who just drink on weekends socially with friends are alchy's. They are weekend warriors an thats fine. However this clown smashem posts that he wakes up an drinks to avoid hangovers and drinks a case on the weekdays...the dudes got a problem and is in such denial along with some other guys on here its sad.

Does smashem have kids? I really hope not, grow up and get a grip on life you flamer. Seriously consider the rehad I showed you (the recovery place in Ft Lauderale Florida)

Have too or want too? You may not feel you have too, buy you just rather drink because you don't have the time otherwise. I mean is it bad of you want to drink , but you restrain yourself from doing so? Some people rather drink and have fun doing so...so are most college kids alcoholics?

Yeah that's what I'm saying. There's a difference between doing because you want and doing because you think you need. Addiction is not doing. Addiction is feeling you need.

Depends who you talk to. could be people who drink everyday. Could be a person who drinks once a year but is ****ed up when he drinks. Could be a guy who has 5 beers every weekend. Depends who you talk to. There's no real 'clear' definition.

If you talk to hollywood celebrities if they go out and do something stupid all of a sudden they're alcoholics and need to go to rehab. Same thing, anyone caught with a DUI is suddenly an alcoholic. It's annoying.

I'd say you're addicted if you start having withdrawals when you stop doing it, like other drugs.

There is definitely a clear definition of an alcoholic: one who is addicted to alcohol. There is also a clear definition of addiction: mental or physical dependency on a drug.

A guy who drinks once a year but gets super f*cked up is a lightweight, not an alcoholic.
