I think we as in the human race should be thinking about the generations to come and what we leave for them. Colonizing other planets is our only chance for the future. This is a step in the right direction

I'm all for spending this kind of money on projects like this. If we stop exploring and stop asking how and why, we become a stagnant race.

It seemed not long ago that we lived in a world that dreamed about a "Jetson's" future. Now all people care about is how much gas will cost next week.

The United States alone has sent billions and billions of dollars in aid to countries around the world that will seemingly never step out of their dark ages/poverty stricken state. As I see it, that is money wasted. Use that money on US soil and get your borders straightened out.

Don't take from NASA though. The world needs a country to lead the technological charge, and I would prefer that country be the United States rather than China or Russia.

What is this response even supposed to mean? It's on the topic you were whining about. You think 2.5 billion is too much money and I pointed out that by any national standard it's a drop in the bucket. Perspective.

Again settle down space geek, you pointed out that it was a drop in the bucket compared to the war in Afghanistan, not ANY national standard.

Now I'm sure you are going to push up the glasses, and another piece of scotch tape to them are start googling spending on random areas to prove some point, but let me save you the time.....not interested.

It really doesn't matter if it is ANY national standard.

RC is 100% correct. You will never get anything out of Afghan., nothing, except pain & heartache.

$2.5 B for a chance to, maybe, gather useful data and help the human race move forward would seem like money well spent to me.

Space geek, nerd, taped glasses...you are talking sh*t in a thread about a Mars rover where people are amped about what was just accomplished. Are you this retarded in real life?

Your opinion about this is idiotic, at best simply uninformed. Not interested in educating yourself so you don't come off like such a moron to others? Making it clear you just came here to bitch and complain about a world first? Fine. You got called out for being a narrow minded simpleton. You should be used to it by now. Don't let the door hit you as you limp out, leftfoot.

NASA can't even put an American in space without using Russia.

Let's get this straight because apparently you must also be added to the list of folks with comprehension issues, I wasn't talking crap about space exploration....just you.

Please read my posts again, I said in the economic times this country is in that to me is to much money. Never did I say it was a bad idea, or I didn't want to educate myself. Maybe you weren't spanked as a little kid or something, but you can be disagreed with without throwing a temper tantrum.

How am I uninformed?

How is my comment about money simpleton?

How am I not interested in educating myself?

You gathered all that because I think the money spent is too much, assumptions like these are the exact comments that make you the simpleton.

But hey I can agree to disagree, you should try it.

It does matter when someone uses such an open ended quote such as that.

Never brought up the war.

Never said NASA wasn't a great program, simpily stated that during these times it's too much money.
