Man who Killed his Children set Free
WTF
Montreal, Canada (CNN) -- Canadians expressed outrage Thursday after the release of Guy Turcotte, a cardiologist who in 2009 confessed to killing his children as they slept in their beds. What many wanted to know was how a father who stabbed his children dozens of times could be free after 46 months of confinement. Those voices echo the grief of Turcotte's ex-wife, Dr. Isabelle Gaston, the mother of 5-year-old Olivier and 3-year-old Anne-Sophie. As Gaston pored over her children's autopsy reports, she wished she had no idea what they meant. But as a physician and a coroner, she knows it's true: Her children suffered a long, gruesome death. http://www.cnn.com/2012/12/13/world/...tml?hpt=hp_bn2 |

Disgusting that "mental illness" was used, and worked in this situation.
The only mental illness I see is the guy is sick, and should be killed for being able to stab his kids nearly 40 times.

At the trial it was presented that he was "blacking out" from depression, anger, etc because his wife had recently left for her personal trainer...
Allegedly he doesn't remember doing anything. So, um, I'm not a doctor, but wouldn't you worry that he would "black out" with anger the next time he got really pi$$ed off? Can somebody please explain to me how that was a logical defense? I know lots of guys who "black out" when they street fight. Should they then be able to kill as they feel like it, doing less than 5 years for every murder? I just don't get it at all. If he's sick then he's sick. How can you be capable of butchering your own children in their beds and then a few dozen months later be totally normal and return to society? Our justice system in Canada defies all logic.

I feel that this guy, along with most people who commit murder, should fry. What sickens me more is the system that allows him to walk, and the freakin' lawyers who defend these people and get them off by using the "mental illness" defense. Just because someone is not mentally fit for trial, it does not make their actions okay. He clearly murdered his children, he should be stabbed 40 times! I don't understand how most of these defense lawyers can live with themselves.
