Canuck2 and I have a mutual respect. I'm just not sure what point I'm missing. I know all about the hazards of processed foods, bovine somatotropin, indoor chickens, industrial fed cattle, etc and I try to stay away from those. I don't buy into the spin that eggs are bad.

Your a pretty bright guy.

but most people are part of the conditioned masses. They dont like to hear that McDonalds may be bad for you or the food industry is not out for your best interests. They'd rather be blind consumers and be the little lemmings that they are.
Often any viewpoint they are presented with is brushed off as "liberal hysteria".
You know what I'm saying?

I doubt people are blind to it. They don't want to hear it because they don't care and that is all they hear from the organic vegan tree huggers.

Of course no one likes to hear foods are bad for you. Just like people don't like hearing smokings bad for you. For the most part (in my opinion I'd say 99.9% of people know smokings bad, and that .1% probably think it cures cancer) people do it because they either a) enjoy it b) addicted to it. It's easy to become addicted to certain foods with certain different chemicals, just like a cigarette. But I also argue that people know these risks going in when they eat a certain food or do something else. The after effect falls solely on their shoulders, and they should bear the blame.
Now with foods I agree there are no pamphlets as to what exactly is in your porterhouse steak you just ate, which might not even be a porter house at all, and could contain many additives and colourings not to mention glue used to keep everything together.

I wouldn't consider myself bright because I care about what I put in my body and read up on some stuff. I am bright for other reason though.

I, like theknuckleshuffler, don't think it's so much people being blind to how bad fast food is; I think most people know that. But there's also a lot of people who don't care and eat it anyway. Or they think "one time won't hurt." Well that's probably true, but how many "one times" are there? That money is better spent at the salad bar at your local grocery store, which now costs less than a Big Mac.

There are no doubt people who don't care about what food companies put in their food. There are also plenty who are ignorant about dietary substance altogether, for whatever reason. I know people who have young children and keep all kinds of sugar-loaded sh*t in the pantry. In this day and age, there's not one person who doesn't know sugar and fat are bad for the body. There is all kinds of information out there that says strawberries are a better afternoon snack than oreos. So there's no more excuses to be made: the onus is completely on the consumer to seek out the information and make the right choices. Let the people ignore it or call it liberal hysteria if they want.

I'm going to disagree with you a little bit. I do think people have "heard" how the stuff they eat is "bad" but I really dont think they realize how bad it can damage you.
I read an article in the paper about how this fat couple proudly displayed all the food they just bought on their countertop at home with coupons. How much money they saved. In the background was their fat kids.
If you look at this packaged garbage it has "nutrients/vitamens" added. It's "fortified". that's advertised heavily. Not the fact that in the box is basically shiit that NEEDS to be fortified. All kinds of chemicals, sugars and preservatives.
It's very hard to make an argument that this particular type of food caused this cancer or this autoimmune disease. But food is medicine and causes illness more then any other factor. Your genetics can be completly modified by following the correct diet. your cardiac risk factor can be turned OFF by juicing massive amounts of organic greens.
Remember this: The food industry does not care about your health and the health industry does not care about food.

For a long time I've felt they are one in the same. What’s the easiest way to create sick people that need to buy your drugs?
