Christmas Decorating

It's getting to be that time of year. We just had Halloween, and we have Thanksgiving in a few weeks, with the big one, Christmas in less than 2 months. What do you guys do? Pull a Clark Griswold or do you prefer The Grinch? Personally, Christmas has always been my favorite. I remember a a kid I would love putting up the multi-colored Christmas lights on the shrubs in the front yard. I remember I was about 10 or 11 when my mom put the stop to my multi-colored decorating and went with the all white, yet always allowed my brother and I a tree to put the colors on. I am 27, will be 28 in a few weeks, and I still do my parents decorating. Of course I will put up some colors for them. Anyway, what do you guys like to do? I have a nice apartment with my girlfriend, and I like setting the theme. I don't like to be that tacky person, but for Halloween we had a few pumpkins with some decorations. We're going out tonight, and going to that stupid store Michaels. Looking to buy a door-mat, some lights, and maybe a lighted snowman or something.

Do you guys like getting into the Holidays? I like putting up lights and stuff, what about you?

Happy CHanukah to the clown KY. Hope you get a nice fleshlight on 12/9.
I act like the Grinch... but end up being Griswold. Every year without fail the day after Thanksgiving, the wife drags out our considerable collection of Christmas decorations. The inside is her territory, and the outside is mine.I bitch and moan like a 10 year old. I don't feel like getting out the ladders, climbing on the roof etc (keep in mind I'm in WNY where it's pretty chilly that time of year)... but when I start - I go 110%. I don't go gaudy (ala Griswold), but there are a lot of lights and decorations, garland, wreaths etc.... Then, ineveitably there will be a storm with high winds a week later that ****s up all my hard work.

I do stand firm on when we get our tree though. She always wants to get it way too early, and since a real tree is a must that's not good. We go to a tree farm in the hills south of Buffalo and cut our own. It's tradition - which to me is the best part of the holidays.

Just kidding, Xmas decorating is great. We don't start at my house until December, but come that time, we deck out all the bushes and trees out front. We don't go all out but we definitely get our point across. Last year, we were one of the better decorated houses on our street I thought, which is a first. As far as colors go, we use all colors available and white, but we try to keep it organized. Blue and gold corner, green and red section, red and white, you get the point. Like Jack, we don't cut down the tree until usually the weekend before Christmas, maybe two. We have always gone to my dad's friend's house nearby. He grows thousands of firs on his farm plot across the street and pretty much everyone in the area goes there. It's a really legit operation he has going. Only lights go on the tree before Christmas Eve. On Christmas Eve, we put all the ornaments on. The last tradition regarding the tree is the strings of little Swedish flags we drape around it as the last decoration.

Other than that, the only other Christmas tradition is me skipping church because I'm not religious in that sense. I'm just here for the festivities and giving people gifts when I'm not broke.

Edit: those large inflatable lawn decorations are the absolute gayest Christmas decoration. There is a house at the other end of our street that blows up a dozen of those things. I mean there's hardly any lawn left once those monstrosities go up. The worst one is the giant Tigger. What the hell does Tigger have to do with Christmas??

I got nothing against Christmas (in fact it's one of the few holidays I kinda get excited about) or other people decorating but I am not a fan myself. Growing up my Mommy loved to deck out the house (mostly inside) for every holiday. She had all sorts of junk. So I now loathe junk and things.

Outside; The maximum for me is a nature-y wreath on the door.

Inside; Mayyyybe a tablecloth and/or centerpiece. Edit: And tree of course.

The end.

We have this one set of Christmas lights shaped like a star. It's cheap, it's easy, and I like it.

My mom gets a tree, but the one at my house is USB and about 7 inches tall.

Growing up, I lived down the street from these nutcases. They start setting up mid-october and do a big fireworks show thanksgiving night when they actually turn the lights on. Always been a tradition to at least walk down there once during the holidays to check them out. The first video shows the main house. And the second shows the rest of the circle that gets into it. Note: may want to mute video 2 as the people are annoying.

Very little decorating for me. A few hanging lights outside that's about it. The Christmas tree is the most time spent on decorating I do. I don't want to scare santa away with all the flashing lights.

Wow, lots of Scrooges on here. Something tells me I shouldn't be surprised.

We got Christmas lights on the barn. If we ever are late in feeding we turn them on so we can see the shiit to shovel.

I leave all of the decorating to my parents. Outside lights are rather basic, one string around our living room window, another around the bushes. But we go all out inside. Nearly everything short of the kitchen sink has some sort of decoration. Our garage is full to the brim with boxes of Christmas decorations, and every year my mom buys more decorations. It's fun once it's all out, but the house is chaotic during the decorating.

As for the tree, artificial is the only way to go. Real trees are too much work not to mention a fire hazard.

Decorated last year but not the year before. Not really sure if I am going to this year. I pretty much only do it if I'm bored but usually I don't give a damn. I also stick a sign on my door at Halloween stating I'm not home and I'm down the block at a neighbors house so go there but I don't actually have any candy. I have a pit bull and mutt dog and don't want to be bothered by all the neighborhood sh1ts running around.

I usually do the roof line and bushes in lights, a blowup Grinch and Christmas Tigger that my son loves in the front yard. Adding a big ass blow up snow globe with Santa Clause in helicopter in it this year. I always plan on doing more but I’m over it by the time I get that **** up.
