The shooter (or one of the shooters, I saw some reports saying there was more than one) was a father of a kid at the school.

That's really ****ed up. I drive past Newtown every time I go to and from school. It's going to be really messed up going past there tomorrow.

I really want to know what this guy's motive could have possibly been.

Opening fire on 5-year old children is about the lowliest scum an individual can degrade themselves to.

Assholes like that need to be shot on site, no questions about it. For example, there is absolutely no reason on earth that the Batman murderer should still be alive today.

NEWTOWN, Conn. (AP) — A shooting at a Connecticut elementary school Friday left 27 people dead, including 18 children, an official said.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation was still under way. Another official, speaking on condition of anonymity for the same reason, said the gunman at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown was killed and apparently had two guns.

Stephen Delgiadice said his 8-year-old daughter heard two big bangs and teachers told her to get in a corner. His daughter was fine.

"It's alarming, especially in Newtown, Connecticut, which we always thought was the safest place in America," he said.

The superintendent's office said the district had locked down schools in Newtown, about 60 miles northeast of New York City. Schools in neighboring towns also were locked down as a precaution.

I don't like speculating on the number of victims or specifics yet, simply because in the hysteria, concise details are rarely available or correct when released, but they're reporting an entire kindergarten class is unaccounted for and possibly gunned down.

I can't, for the life of me, understand how a person thinks about this, let alone carries it out.

Right? I guess keeping the shooter alive helps determine a motive, but who really cares in the bigger picture? There are usually clues left behind that lead to the motive anyway. People like this document what they do.

Supposedly there were 2 individuals involved. One was shot on the scene and the other fled on foot. 4 weapons were recovered by authorities.

26 dead, 18 were students/children.
